Sounds like Calabro will have some say on who is hired. They hit a grand slam with the Calabro hiring so I am betting they make a good decision on his partner.

And right after you posted the article on Blazersland complaining about the change. :beatinto:

You'll notice I didn't complain about the change at all. It was more the 'HOW' it was done.

One thing to consider is that Calabro, who obviously has spent time on the radio side, has a different style then MB. He is a little more energetic/talkative than MB. So although I agree that we don't want anyone boring to be the "color", at the same time he doesn't exactly need to be Rice either. The two Mikes complimented each other very well. But now we can get by with someone who does not have as strong as a personality as Rice because Kevin offsets it more.

Trust me that is no knock on Barrett who I really liked. I am just saying we can be open to various players who do not yet possess a strong TV personality, but could develop one.

Kevin is significantly better than MB was, will be and ever was. Not a knock on MB, just statin' facts.

I'm very impressed with the hire, although I think Calabro is best on the radio. It does make me wonder if they're not hiring a 2nd banana for Wheels because they want to replace them both after next year.

Are you and Stren done exploding now?

See? Patience and it all works out. We must have more faith in the Blazers as a whole and remain focused on the big picture.

    This.

Watching the videos, you could close your eyes and envision the play going on just from his description.

"How" in the hell do you expect this to be done? It was swift, it was kept quiet before hand. That's how it should be done....

He is better than MB, and that's not a knock on MB. I've always though Calabro was one of the elite play-by-play guys on the national level.

There is a reason why he has been considered one of the best. Again I know this all subjective, but that video is a great example.

Great hire! I remain a fan of Mike/Mike as I watched 82+ games each year and they became friends on the air. But, that said, this is a great hire!!

Now, Mychal Thompson, Steve Smith, Brent Barry - any one of the three would make me really happy!!

Calabro is very good and can do TV but may be better as a radio guy. Do they put him as the TV guy for a year and then move him to radio when Wheels' contract is up?

Man, there is going to be so much of an uproar if they let Wheels go next summer. Fortunately for him, he'll have his pick of jobs nationwide if we're dumb enough to let him go.

Don't home run hitters tend to have a lower batting average? ;)

Mychal Thompson is the color guy for the Lakers, and he goes to every Dodger home game to watch his son play. He is not an option.

Or, do they let him do his radio style on TV and just simulcast the TV audio on the radio?
