I don't look for the Bulls to trade Butler. It will have to be a very, very good deal. Jimmy is only 27. We build around him. I think the Bulls will fill in some holes with the cap money. I also think if they get Baldwin or Jackson at #14 and Hammons at #48 we will have a good draft. Rose will have a good year either with us or on another team. This is his contract season. It would not surprise me if he is traded next Thursday. The Kings will be ideal. The deal with the kings does not have to be the one above. McLemore/Gay would be fine. Or McLemore and Belinelli and in both deals, we get their pick outright. Sac needs a pg. I think Rondo moves on.
Agree that Butler stays put. Disagree that Rose will have a good season if he stays with the Bulls. It's Butler's team and the two of them haven't been compatible. Also, Rose, who was great when his athleticism was elite, is now a high-usage below-the-rim PG who can't shoot from distance and is indifferent at best on defense. How many of these negatives are likely to change in the coming season?
You make some good points. My point is this is a contract year. Whether he plays here or elsewhere, he will be aggressive and stack up the stats. The way I saw his past play was he was going to get paid X amount no matter how he played! Now his future money is on the line. He has to prove more this season to everyone.
I hear what you're saying, but a more aggressive, "shootier" DRose is pretty scary based on the .479 TS%, about the same as Snell's, that he put up last season. If he decides he has to up his usage to pad his stats, I'm afraid I'd need to sit his ass down. He'd kill your offense. Don't get me wrong, if Rose is a Bull next season, which I expect him to be, I'll be pulling for him like crazy to find his game. Unfortunately, based on what I've seen of him over the past couple seasons, my expectations are low.
http://www.blogabull.com/2016/4/27/11510276/derrick-rose-stats-higlights-contract I think Rose supporters and haters alike can both agree that Rose's vision problems lead to some major scoring issues early in the year. If we look at Rose's stats since January 1, the scoring numbers are solid. He put up 20.54 pts/36 min on 50.8TS%. Those are not spectacular numbers, but they are definitely better than last year. I think if Rose was used more in a way that utilized his strengths, those numbers could have been even better.
