Apparently not; for a guy with his assets and tools to fall out of the draft................

So how does everyone see Portland getting into the draft, assuming all cash deals are dead? You think Plumlee goes? Do they give up Vonleh? The Cavs pick?

I think they buy a 2nd rounder. I dont think they want the cap hold going into free agency.

They could deal plumlee for a future first and backup pg or young wing if they know they are going to sign a center like howard or whiteside and are trying to carve out a little more space. But obviously that would happen in july.

I would be shocked if we didn't end up with a second, I'm also on the Gary Payton the II train. It's a good opportunity to clear up some cap space too I think for the Howard/Whiteside/....Ryan Anderson sweepstakes.

Yeah, there are a lot of teams with an excessive amount of picks, I'm sure there will be 2nd rounders available for trade. Is Thon Maker still projected as a 2nd? Sorry, don't feel like scrolling though this whole thread.

I would bet Thon Maker will be a late first round pick to some team like the Spurs that can bring him along slowly and have something with him in about 4-5 years, kind of like how Biyombo is just now starting to be a useful player.

Maker is at #35 at draft Express; it seems like he was a little higher last week.

There is a cap hold for first round draftees, because their contracts are slotted. 2nd round picks have no cap hold, so we could draft someone in the 2nd without impacting our available cap space.

He also plays bully-ball. He knows how to use his strength to get his shots off. The NBA is a totally different beast but Jones has the footspeed to slide over to PF if needed.

Fwiw -- the Raptors measured Domantas' reach at 8'11" and he's been knocked his entire time at Gonzaga for his lack of length.

How about Rysheed Jordan? I've seen him in st. John's and kinda liked him. He has attitude and a bit of a me first personality but that's not nessecarily bad for a basketball player. Played 11 games in the NBDL this year, 8, 2.5, 2, in 16 minutes per game.
He's eligible for this draft and isn't listed to be picked according to nbadraft.net

Interesting question. By my latest calculations in the cap thread:
    http://www.sportstwo.com/posts/3921575/
If we renounce the rights to Henderson, Kaman, and Roberts, we'd have about $24.0M available. A tier 1 FA (like Whiteside) has an approximate max of $22.0M. A tier 2 FA (like Horford) has an approximate max of $26.4M. If we're gonna free up that amount of money, Vonleh ($2.8M) and Plumlee ($2.3M) are the prime targets for a trade. If we're looking to move into the late 1st round, I would think Plumlee would easily be able to get us a pick in that area (although a 1st round pick comes with a cap hold of about $1M). If we're looking at getting into the second round, I'd think a team would bite on swapping a second round pick for Vonleh.

I'd be shopping Noah and the Cavs pick to see if we could get into the 1st round. Maybe the Celtics at #23? Then grab Thon Maker. Or as I like to call him Jermaine O'Neil 2.0.

You do realize that Vonleh is only 1 year older than Maker and now has 1.5 years of NBA experience under his belt....I don't understand why everyone is so ready to get rid of Vonleh. The dude is fucking 20 and showed flashes the first half of the year. Do people not remember how well he played in our first win again GSW? We played him at the 5 and his defense and 3 point shooting really affected the game. He has the potential, IMO, to transform into exactly what the future NBA 5 will be.

I don't see much in Noah as a prospect, but it would be pretty stupid to get rid of him now when his value is at the lowest. Unless you're getting a lotto pick for him, it's best to keep him on the roster and let our coaches work their magic on him. We have a pretty decent track record of developing players, so why not let him grow under their supervision for another year?

I thought it was at its lowest when we got him.
