If the final outcome was Monroe/Millsap and we keep Crabbe/Harkless, I would call that a solid summer. Dame CJ Aminu Millsap Monroe with Crabbe, Harkless, and then whatever we have left from trading for Millsap. I'm hoping we can still snag a decent backup point guard.
Funny like.... all that build up over having cap space and we end up using it all before it even gets started. Ironic funny.
And even more who never do. He is what he is. A lumbering low post scorer of the kind that gets relegated to the bench the minute the playoffs start.
Monroe is exactly like Zach Randolph. The best player to pair with him is Marc gasol. Many people have mentioned Milsap and Ibaka and I agree they are good fits, but it is highly unlikely the thunder move Ibaka and the Hawks would want quite a bit for Milsap as well. It almost sounds video gameish expecting Monroe and then Gasol, Milsap, or Ibaka.
tbh i dont really wanna an offensive orientated big man. I'll just end up hating them for being soft on defense n not locking shit down.
I know Portland has pursued him the past couple of seasons, but I would be very surprised if Olshey prioritized a trade before free agency. If he strikes out on Horford or Whiteside, sure, go get Monroe, but definitely not before then. I'd probably rather have Monroe than Dwight though, and I'm not even against Dwight.
Yep, that would be my dream summer scenario. We would add two bigs that are great at both ends of the court and great at defending the pick and roll. We would add a top notch front court to our excellent backcourt. I'd also be happy with a Horford/Butler combo - again, two great 2-way players that would make us better at both ends of the court. BNM
I would consider that a "meh" summer at best and more of a significant disappointment, if we failed in other pursuits and got these guys fairly cheap (Monroe especially - cap and little more) then maybe as Monroe probably is a 1 yr deal and Milsap has 2 yrs left. Neither guy is cheap salary wise with Milsap at 19 mil per and Monroe 17.5.
Offensively they should be quite good but they would give up 110+ points a game. No shot-blocking, no rim protection, PnR defense would be abysmal and teams would score inside at will.
