Changes has to be made this summer and next. Cleveland won with a payroll of 108 mill. Let that sink in. $108 mill. We have to gett players in here that can play. Play with energy and both ends of the court. We need to pay them to do it. I am not saying do the same as Zeke did in NY. He paid money for the wrong players. We need to follow Cleveland and do the same. Granted, it didnt hurt them to have the best player in the world, but management was not afraid to pay players they needed! The way we stand now, we cannot get my the Cavs. No way.
It would help to be able to spend a bit more money probably, but they just have to start making better basketball decisions. Bulls are 8th in the NBA in team salary this season with 87 mil. Golden State spent 93 mil and OKC spent 95. Bulls should not have such a laser focus on staying under the lux tax line long term, IMO, as long as the guys they are spending the money on are contributors. If you look at the Bulls payroll, 2 of 3 guys making 10 mil+ were not really helping the team much this season. If you look at the Cavs payroll, all of their guys making 10+ mil were productive. Their top 4 highest paid guys were their top 4 guys in PER for instance. To this point, Niko Mirotic and Doug McDermott (especially) don't look like guys to build NBA franchises on. Fred Hoiberg doesn't look like a coach to salivate over, much less smear and dump a top notch coach like Thibs for. Rose isn't a guy at this point you want to be spending 21 million on. Will he revert to his old form a bit this year to earn another contract? Perhaps. But then they have to make the right call on a tough decision on whether to resign him or not. Cleveland and Miami got their rings by luring Lebron James to come play for them and smartly building around him. Paxson hasn't been able to land that kind of fish. GS won their ring by innovating and winning in the NBA using a different style and landing (mostly drafting) the talent to do so. GarPax are trying to seemingly follow with Hoiball but they don't have the shooters on the roster for that and the ones that can shoot great (McDermott) are not good enough NBA basketball players to contribute much in other areas, making them net negatives. The key is that GarPax are not innovating, just trying to follow and doing a poor job of it. Its a mess. Sure, you could give GarPax a bit more $$$$ to play with. But they seem like a couple of ass-clowns at this point that would probably just screw the whole thing up, as they did with the Thibs cluster-****.
id trade Niko and keep Doug he is the better shooter and offensive player can do a lot for a team and has a number of ways to score. if mcdermott does well enough on D this summer league and preseason give him a shot in the rotation Niko is too wildly inconsistent shooting and scoring to be a starter mcd is the better offensive player niko is not athletic enough to do too much. Hoiberg isn’t the problem with niko being so wildly inconsistent shooting and scoring it happened with thibs it’s been for 2 years same thing from him honestly id trade him im not a big fan of Niko he just don’t see potential niko had chance early on in the season. he had so MANY clean looks he missed most of them at one point he was shooting under 34 percent from three until that last MAGICAL month and a half brung it up to 39. then he has a bad BBIQ these guy tries to much buying call which he never gets. id trade him for a pick. then u mentioned Hoiberg doesn’t run play for him he did early on and niko didn’t convert in most of his opportunity’s . i think he had his shot last season to start and he was too inconsistent id give doug a shot bulls traded 2 picks for him no reason he shouldn’t be starting plus he can provide more offensively and is the BETTER SHOOTER (harris is descent and Nurkic can’t stay healthy). Doug he needs to make his D at least passable and get more rebounds. He was picked to train with Team USA big opportunity for doug to improve his defensive game and train with NBA players like Paul George, KD, exc. i think this is the second he's been picked by team usa he wasn't picked for no reason. and he's training again with butler this summer, difference between mcdermott and niko is that mcdermott wants to improve and get better at the things he knows he struggles at he has a very good work ethic players like that can improve
