Naming the 100's of people who know basketball, are humorous and have ties to both Seattle and Portland would take too long.
Payton would be great. Hearing all those stories about him playing for the Sonics and Lakers would be a treat during games. We folks in Stumptown would be very fortunate to hear such amazing stories about big city life.
Sherman Alexie. A funny American Indian. Best of all, he lives in Seattle. http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/avid-fan-sherman-alexie-compares-nba-players-to-greek-gods/
Multiple sauces telling me Mychal Thompson and Steve Smith are both on a short list of 5 candidates. Also believed that PJ and Brent Barry on list, but not confirmed.
Mychal Thompson might be on their short list. Kind of like Durant is on their short list. I just can't see any possible scenario where Mychal's leaves his job with the Lakers and his radio gig to move back to Portland after all these years. The only shot is if his wife hates So-cal and wants to move back.
One son plays baseball for the Dodgers, the other plays basketball for the Warriors. Agreed, tough to see him leaving Cali.
Exactly, and he goes to almost every Dodger home game. I guess he could have two homes, since the baseball season is mostly during the off season.
Let's talk about this again. It's way less depressing Can we get a top tier guy to sign here, or will we need to settle for someone like Holton?
After giving Calabro a max deal, I don't know if we have the cap space for a top-tier guy like Brent Barry or Steve Smith.
Why don't they run auditions all over Portland? There are hundreds of thousands of people who know the team here, so just find the most talkative 1%. Of those, find the 10% who will do it for free, and spend the savings on gold watches for Barrett, Rice, and what's his name.
