Is Omri Casspi a good comparison? That guy has turned himself into a terrific role player.

You said there were two targets the Blazers had - one late 1st & one early second. Did you know the names of those targets?

Months... It's going to be a matter of days. Soon as summer league starts.

I believe they really liked Maker but when he went from #35 to #10 in the last 2 days, there was no way they could get that high.

The modus operandi of the current regime is basically draft hard-working upperclassmen who can shoot - then teach them everything else. It's a good plan that has worked well with Dame, CJ, Crabbe, even Biebs.

I don't really want to cause a shitstorm, but I think the biggest problem most people have with him is he's white. My biggest problem with him is 11.7 ppg.

Isn't that all Portland would be expecting from him?

Stretch 4's need be physical and rebound? I don't think you understand the whole stretch 4 concept. A guy like Channing Frye is the definition of a stretch 4. Make open jumpers and be able to dribble the basketball.

That said, Layman is better suited as a 3. He's got great size for that postion, tested out really well athletically. I see no reason he can't transition into the SF position.

What's a "C-"? The player or the pick? Either way it doesn't make sense to me. Were there a bunch of guys better than him we should have taken there, to make it an "A" pick? If it's the player, of course he's a C- player: That's why he was a late pick.

I guess I'm easily confused this morning.

I like the pick. It's going to take him a couple years to develop, but I expect he's going to contribute like Crabbe has. Connaughton stuck with the team and didn't do so well as a rookie, but I think he's going to get better.

For a 2nd round pick, you can't expect much, though some do turn out great.

Good analysis. I agree that he lacks the physicality that he'll need to have. However, he's 22. If he's 26 and still has that problem, then I'll agree with JDC.

He's insurance against Crabbe getting a stupid high offer.

Oh be still my fluttering heart. He'll never beat out the mighty Pat Connaughton, mind. I like "Frustrating Passivity" as a nickname, though. Kind of Childish Gambino-ish

Yes, he does seem to have a nice skillset. But his production in college was relativly modest. He was efficient, but it seems he may be a bit of an under achiever.
