LOL, no surprise, looks like we had a "frisky" agent there

The more I think about it and the more I am warming to the idea of going all-in to Hassan Whiteside. Reason #1, to me, is that at 12.01, there will be teams that will waste time in calling Durant or even Horford. By going this route, it could be a little less crowded and could give the right signal to HW: "You are our top priority". With "only" 22M as max salary, it allows us to get another free agent. By renouncing Henderson, Leonard, Kaman and Roberts and keeping Harkless and Crabbe we have almost 15M to lure someone else in a 94M salary cap.

Let's say we give those 15M to Ryan Anderson. A starting 5 of Lillard - CJ - Aminu - Anderson- Whiteside and a second unit of XXX - Crabbe - Harkless - Davis - Plumlee really intrigues me. And there will be possibilites to trade one of the bigs sometime during the season.

If you use this cap space calculator http://codepen.io/wayneculverhall/full/mErvbV/ ; I think you'll find that even after dumping those four and Montero and Alexander, that we would only have $9 million to spend; I'm not sure there is anyone more interesting than Leonard in that price range? I do agree with you about going all in on Whiteside,

It's funny that they aren't targeting Durant.... I think that says a lot about how far they've fallen.

Whiteside said he is a businessman first, bball player second. So kiss our chances goodbye. If LA offers him a max as suggested, a businessman chooses LA everytime over Portland.

Time to start focusing on Howard.

Guess that's why Paul Allen and Bill Gates own the Laker and Clippers and live in Hollywood?

Any basketball player that wants to build a brand could do worse than to follow Lillard's path...I'd say Lillard is a pretty savvy businessman and Adidas is a pretty big company

Yes because hassan whiteside and bill gates or paul allen equal the same thing.

Commercials at mcgloughlin auto, or much higher scale commercials in the la market?

And whiteside does not equal lillard so dont give me that shit.

The fact is, he will make a lot more money through endorsements in la. Thats just the way it is and indisputable.

    Lillard does not equal whiteside.

Lillard is one of a kind. His endorsements would explode even more if he was in LA too though.

Even the LA media, who used to emphasize that with every possible FA....now admits that the larger market factor..... no longer matters. There are other advantages to LA, but all he needs to do is look at Damian in regards to being successful in building a brand in a small market.

If money is the main objective, states with no income tax is a bigger factor. So why not stay in Miami? I do agree that if LA offers the max they could sway him...but if he thinks he will make more money there he will be wrong. (Cost of living is not cheaper)

There is a pretty sizeable sales tax here in Florida though. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Oh really? Is that why derozan reports say he would make 3 times as much in endorsements in LA than he is making in toronto now?

Also, the tax shit is so overblown amongst you guys.

Just because he plays in LA, does not necessarily mean he is a resident of LA. Cali would only be able to tax the income that has nexus to the state.

Am I supposed to believe DeRosan? Nobody believes that anymore. Maybe it is a Canada thing.....

Here is one of many articles on the subject: http://www.thedailygopher.com/2012/7/26/2228977/does-city-really-matter-for-athlete-endorsements

Do you think Nike cares where Lebron plays? They are still giving him max dollars. We live in a digital age.

Where exactly are the extra endorsements coming from? I live in Los Angeles and I never see any of the current Lakers being promoted on TV. If they are, it is small potatoes. Whiteside does not have the personalty to sell anything. DeRosan might because guards and wings get better shoe deals than centers.
