Wait..........He's is talking like he will be re-signed by us at that ridiculous amount? If that happens, I literally never want to hear any of praise Neil

Bobby Marks' quote seems more in line with my expectations:

"I would tend to disagree a little bit. There's some depth at the fours and also a lot of quality fives. I think you're going to see a bunch of unrestricted guys come off the board first. And then we'll get to mid-July almost like what Portland had with (Enes) Kanter last year and Oklahoma City with that offer sheet ($70 million, 4 years)... that will be the challenge for the Blazers if you want to make an offer there... if you told me he was in the $10-12 million (a year) range I probably wouldn't argue but I don't know if he can get a bit more than that."

Wow, that shows how ridiculous things are going to get this summer. Aldridge made $16 million his last season in POR. Is Meyers really going to get offers in excess of that?

Of course, the salary cap in 2014-15 was $63 million. So, relative to the cap, $16 million then is the same as $24 million now. But still...

I'm a Meyers fan (within reason), but even I think $16 million, even with the much larger cap, is too much for him. I'm glad I'm not making these decisions. Still if some other team offers Meyers something in excess of $16 million a year, my decision just got easier.

$10 - $12 million a year, under the new cap is more palatable. It's less than half what of what Aldridge made his last season in POR (after adjusting for cap inflation). Leonard is a back up, so paying him 40% - 50% of what an all star starter makes doesn't sound that unreasonable.

So this is assuming we don't sign Whiteside or Howard?

I think I'd rather keep Meyers at $16M than Crabbe at $16M. If these are indeed the sorts of offers they're going to get I think we keep one and let one walk.

That's a hell of a lot of money for a 7ft slow shooting guard.

So we have two starting caliber shooting guards, one of which could be flipped for a position of need, and you want to let one of them walk for nothing so we can bring back a guy that completely bombed as a starter at the beginning of the season?

    Good plan.

No wonder we drafted Layman. Even if he is just a project still better than paying all thst dough for Meyers.

If he is at 10 to 12 per year, you keep him.
Much higher than that, you probably let him go and try to sign a stretch 4 or small forward with remaining cap.

So basically Portland would have paid Kanter more than any other Blazer big ever......if OKC would not have matched. At least over a 4 year period. Zach's 6 yr 84 million would have been tops if we didn't trade him. (We never ended up paying him the whole 84) .

15-16 mil for Leonard is too much.

Meyers Leonard WILL get an offer sheet of between $12-$15M/year.

Depending upon whether or not we are able to sign a Whiteside/Miyombo or a much more expensive Howard or Horford will determine whether we can keep ML or not. If Howard/Horford - we CANNOT keep ML without getting up near or past Luxury Tax level (assuming we extend CJ next summer).

Assuming we get Howard/Whiteside (those are the only semi-reasonable, worthwhile C targets IMO), you're saying we can't keep Meyers. Do you feel the same way about Plumlee? Because we're going to be in the same position with him next season.

I do think that - if we get Howard/Whiteside - we can only keep one of Meyers/Plumlee. But to simply say we can't keep Meyers, I don't agree. IMO we re-sign Meyers and trade Plumlee. If we were to have Howard/Whiteside then Meyers provides more value to the team than Plumlee because his skill set doesn't overlap.

Who, who is this team that will make an offer?

Biebs is currently INJURED and will not play until CHRISTMAS. Almost by definition, he fails every teams physical.

So, again, who's going to offer Biebs $16 mil AND waive a physical? Who? Not NYK, not LAL. Phoenix?

If anyone offers him more that $13 mil, they can have him, as far as I'm concerned.

Baseless speculation and unfounded. This is a case of throwing as much shit on the wall as possible and hoping something sticks.
