Neil might realize Horford's heading somewhere or has narrowed his choices. Millsap though...that would be sweet
Maybe Neil went in with the strategy we suggested, where he goes all in for the best possible player he thought we could land. Make him feel special like he is the only one we want. (Ergo no mention of anyone else) He probably found out the list for Horford is longer, and our chances were not as good. I expect Neil to go all in for Whiteside.....then shift gears quickly if it does not work out. I am sure he has multiple plans, but it does seem like Whiteside is plan A.
While I think Horford would be an amazing addition to this team, maybe Olshey doesn't think Horford fits Dame's supposed "window". He is older than our core of guys and just last summer, Olshey stated that he was trying to add guys that fit into Dame's age window and career trajectory. Having a better than expected season last year probably didn't change that assessment and goal. I could see Horford falling outside of those goals.
With how little talk howard has generated, it wouldnt surprise me if he is who we wanted. Whiteside sounds like its between us, lakers and heat and i honestly think he signs with the lakers. If neil is a good deep throater, i think if he showed up at howards doorstep at 12:01 its game over.
Got ya. The age thing has been the main reason I haven't been thinking of Horford as a legit free agent option. It will be interesting to see if Olshey changes up his plans.
Oh the personal irony if the Blazers picked up Jordan for cap space (considering my glee at his inability to make a freaking free throw).
It is some karma that I would be totally ok with. He does have some pretty big ties to Olshey as well. Stranger things have happened.
I think it's kind of the same thing; We aren't meeting with anyone we don't think we have a good chance of signing.
I started out across the street from the platform to get on the Whiteside train. But considering what appear to be our realistic opportunities....I'm down with it. I'm starting to think it's Whiteside or bust. And I'd rather not bust.
Monroe yes (we've been after Monroe for years so that wasn't a shock). Hibbert I didn't think was (I look at my phone at midnight and he had agreed). Aminu wasn't a surprise. Most of our moves are pretty quiet - more so than any other team.
