What about calling Larry Sanders and hope him to be what we wish Hassan Whiteside to be? Give him a 2 years 18 millions contract with a team option for a third year. Cut "only" 9 millions in our cap space and the possibility to still give someone a max contract.

    Whiteside last year : 14 pts, 12 rebs, 3.7 blks, 26 PER
Sanders' best year: 10 pts, 10 rebs, 2.8 blks, 19 PER

These guys are on totally different tiers.

That's why one is paid (in my theory) 9M and the other 22M. Are those 13M worth the drop in production? And if it lands us say Al Horford?

We aren't getting horford. We aren't on his list of teams.

Change Horford's name with another one. The question remains. Is the drop in production worth the gamble? I don't say I think so. Maybe.

If we can offer $15 million on a long deal, sign him the hell up. He's not going to be a coach killer to Stotts.

Howard is an idiot if he thinks that. His game has dropped considerably. He's hardly AS level anymore.

Unfortunately it only takes one GM to offer something crazy to totally contradict what every other GM is thinking is fair. BUT, IF that info is correct and holds up (I doubt it) then that really could be a difference maker

    Houston - Probably not Morey.
Dallas - No way its Cuban
    Memphis - Maybe
    Portland - Maybe
Clippers - No way its Doc
    Thunder - Probably not

So that article doesn't believe Whiteside is that anchor? Interesting

Hello Mark Cuban! He'll pay him whatever he wants given his track record for overpaying.

Here is the part I found interesting:

"The back, shoulder and knee injuries that slowed Howard in recent seasons are behind him. On a per-minute basis, his rebounding and shot-blocking numbers remain robust.

"Guys view Dwight as a guy that's still talented, but at this point is just kind of underachieving," said Billups. "He still can go get a double-double. But I don't think he's viewed as winner at this point."

To me this statement means he can't lead a team, but he can certainly help a team who already has a good leader.
He did not mesh well with Kobe. And Houston did not have a leader. But Portland kind of does. If plan A falls through, I would offer Dwight a little more than what he opted out at. So he can save face.
