They can sign Parson and still re-sign Leonard, Harkless and Crabbe if they want to....but you have to rely on your Dr. Portland is sending a strong message to Parsons. He gives them a front-line versatile '4' and coming back next year with a 50+ win team if he is there. He wanted to get to a contending team and he wanted to be a teams #1 priority and not sit around waiting.
It still sounds like we're meeting with Whiteside tomorrow (if he doesn't sign tonight). I really think we're trying to get Parsons to sign now so we can use that as a motivator.

Portland showed stability with the year they had. It's huge after last summer when they lost 4 starters and started over. They got the the 2nd round which was a great job and they are building something. Now can you get into the upper echelon.

With what money though? If were giving Parsons the max, minus letting all our depth go, how do we get Whiteside?
Chandler's max is 22. Whiteside is right around 22. It's doable.... but it really guts our team. We'd have to trade Aminu/Plumlee and drop Leonard.
Teams have Parsons' medical charts and they will go from there. Dallas maxed him out before so this is his 2nd max. If you can get a difference maker, you make the move and I (Woj) likes the move for Portland.
I would guess we could get some decent ring chasing vets for cheap if we got those two guys or CP/Howard.
If Parsons is our big splash this offseason I'm going to be underwhelmed. If you couple him with a decent big, thats more exciting.
I think we match. Deal with his contract via trade if it doesn't work out. But I think he's going to be a very important rotation player for us.
To get Parsons/Whiteside both at max deals you have to: Cut Montero Cliff Kaman Leonard Hendo Harkless Trade Aminu That gets you 46 million in cap space, but man...... that sure guts the team. Dame CJ Parsons Vonleh? Whiteside With Crabbe, Davis, and Plumlee coming off the bench.... but that's basically all we've got on the roster.
