Rasta -- you are not very clear with your last post are you saying you do not want Parsons in Portland. -- LOL
Trading Davis is painful as fuck; he's so much better at his job than Plumlee would be at Davis's job.
Remember, you win by scoring more than the other team... I wouldn't play that lineup extended minutes, but in a defense-for-offense situation at the end of games where timeouts are flying? Yeah, that's tough to guard.
I understand, but unless you think Crabbe is also going to play 36 mpg (24 at SG, 8 at SF), or Connaughton/Layman can contribute, then Aminu's role on that gutted squad is probably more important than Davis', especially since Aminu can play some 4 as well. And if Howard is willing to take just $20M instead of requiring $24M, then that might be feasible. Plumlee could probably return a better draft pick in trade too.
If he wants a little more, after trading plums, trade vonleh and connaughton too. With howard the team is obviously in win now mode the next 2 to 3 years
Would be nice, but moving Davis is really our only chance to get up to a respectable salary for Howard. If he accepts 17 or so that'd be awesome, but the Mozgov signing makes that unlikely. Match Crabbe Offer and sign Leuer with the room and here's what we're looking at: Dame (36) / CJ (12) CJ (24) / Crabbe (24) Parsons (36) / Aminu (6)/ Crabbe (6) Aminu (28) / Leuer (10)/ Vonleh (10) Howard (34) / Plumlee (14) Id be happy with that.
Connaughton's in the same boat as Montero and Alexander, in that removing him from the roster only nets $300K in cap space, so there's probably no benefit to trading him. Vonleh, however...there's a case to be made, as long as we're getting a decent asset in return.
Jon Jeuer with the room exception? You really think he'll come that cheap? If so, home run. Dude's a perfect Stotts stretch 4.
Montero interests me greatly. I think he could play well next season in limited minutes at three positions.
Oh it's extremely unlikely. Especially the amount of room teams will still have after major FA's are off the board. But i think he's under the radar enough that there is an outside chance.
Yeah, but in the aggregate, im willing to let monteto, alexander and connaughton go, to have that extra 900kish amount of cap space for dwight. Especially if it convinced him to sign, and we got to keep crabbe, aminu and davis.
So we know he's meeting with Memphis this morning.... does he have any other meetings scheduled? I'm hoping he makes an announcement after the meeting with Memphis. If the plan is to try to get Parsons AND Howard, then we need Parsons to commit quickly.
I'd really try to avoid cutting him at all costs as well. Much rather release Connaughton and eat his guaranteed salary, but not sure Portland is willing. We'll find out soon.
