Should Atlanta be able to resign Horford, they'll be looking to trade Millsap. We have the perfect pieces to acquire him with cheap guys like Aminu and Davis that would help them save cap space and fit their style of play. We shouldn't mind putting draft picks in play as well. If it's possible to get Millsap, then we have to try. He's a perfect 3rd option and one of, if not the best defensive PF in the league. He's also a solid 3 point shooter, so he fits perfectly next to 3 shot creators in Lillard, McCollum, and Turner.

    Here's some stats:
    Per 36 Stats: 18.8ppg, 10reb, 3.6asp
    Percentages: 47% FGs, 32% 3pt, 76% FT,
Box Plus Mines: Offensive: 1.1, Defensive: 4.2, Total: 5.3

We have a lot of depth, but we're missing that guy in the frontcourt. That guy is Millsap. We can trade a couple players, acquire the perfect fit at PF, and still have a good bench. If it's possible, it has to be explored.

I can't imagine it happening, but this is THE best case scenario. He would help this team more than any player that we actually have a realistic shot of getting.

    Or else what?

Atlanta isn't going to give him away.

And I really didn't think Atlanta would be willing to trade him, but it is looking like they are trying to keep Horford after adding Dwight. Those 3 players are not going to be on the same team and stay happy. You can't start all 3 and none of them are going to be alright coming off of the bench. This is the moment to try and make a play on Millsap (who I've wanted way more than Horford from the beginning).

If it takes Davis, Aminu, the CLE 2018 pick, and our 2018 and 2020 picks, then do it. We gotta be aggressive at some point.

With Howard and Bazemore and maybe Horford eating up their cap, they would love to have Aminu, Davis, Plumlee or some rookie contracts we have..Layman, Connaughton..and if we could get Millsap, they might throw in a Kyle Korver as well..they need youth, we need experienced vets

    We would
Agree. Is that too much salary for Atlanta to take back though? I mean they are allegedly shopping Millsap to make monetary space for Horford. I am not good with sports math.

And look where it got them. I want Milsap but not for 3 firsts.

Yeah, but the Nets did it for washed up players. Milsap is in his prime.

Milsap certainly isn't washed up but I would be willing to bet last season will be his best statistically from here on out. So on the downslope but slowly. I like the dude a lot. He is literally the perfect fit but 3 firsts is like superstar package. Did Den even get that on the Melo trade?

They could probably get a better player than anyone we have outside of Lillard for him. They would be nuts to trade him for role players.

If they're so concerned about pinching pennies, they wouldn't have signed Howard in the first place.

Looks more like they are trying to not become irrelevant again.

This all makes sense. Why would a team want to give up a still productive Millsap? To sign Horford. If they want to keep Horford, they are going to have to trade Milsap, and they are going to have to save money in the process somehow. And even if they didn't want to trade him, they can't go into the season with Howard, Millsap, and Horford. Milsap can't start at SF, and all 3 are certain starters. Something has to give, and if Atlanta chooses Horford over Milsap (And the Howard signing made this choice inevitable), we should do whatever we can to get involved.

Millsap is on the block since they signed Howard and Bazemore according to Woj's circle

The Nets don't protect them. We would protect them but that's if we exec has to give them up in the first place.
Not quite sure. We'd have to give up those 2 to get Millsap and keep our RFAs.

We could send a draft pick to Brooklyn for them to take on Splitter for Atlanta.
