Plumlee and Vonleh would be enough so that we'd only have to renounce 1 of our RFA (Probably Harkless)

    Lillard/CJ/Turner/Millsap/Davis
    Crabbe/Aminu/Leonard

    Vonleh+Plumlee+Cleveland Pick for Millsap.

    Millsap is making 20 million.

    Vonleh+Plumlee are around 5 million.

That leaves 15 million that we'd need in cap space.

If we renounce Hendo/Kaman/Roberts, that puts us at 24.675 million. Subtract Turner's 17 million and that gives us 7.675 million in space. We need another 7.5. If we cut Meyers, that gets us there.

    Dame
    CJ
    Turner
    Millsap
    Davis

Of course, we have no backup center at this point. We still have Aminu and Harkless who can swing between the forward spots. We also have Crabbe, so the bench still has teeth. We'd need to find a backup point guard and a backup center.

Now that you spell things out in real terms, that seems pretty unlikely. Ugh. I am not sure Neil would gut the roster like that.

The Suns are in talks with ATL... With their young and cheap assets, I doubt we could match or send a better deal than them.

THAT'S a good plan. Deal away a bunch of young talent on a rebuilding roster for a guy in his 30s. That makes NO sense. They don't have a Dame or a CJ. Adding Millsap makes sense for us because we already made the playoffs. We are a piece or two away from being able to actually contend in the west. The Suns are not a piece or two away. They don't even have a foundational piece right now. They have an injury prone Bledsoe and Brandon Knight. That's simply not good enough. Millsap won't do shit for that team.

Hey, the Suns want him... But this is the same team that signed Tyson Chandler long term before having a commitment from LA last summer, they're an odd franchise the last 2-3 seasons... But ATL would be stupid to turn down something like TJ Warren and Marquese Chriss for Millsap if it meant retaining Horford.

As much as I'd love Millsap to play here, we don't have the assets to get this done. Atlanta will not be interested in Plumlee when they have both Horford and Howard. They might be interested in Crabbe but due to stupid rules we cannot trade him with any other assets. Actually Davis, Crabbe and Leonard/Aminu would probably get this done but we have no such offer to present to them.

But the point is to clear cap space. They can't take back a bunch of assets because they need the space to sign Bazemore/Horford/Howard. They CAN'T take back a huge haul like Aminu/Leonard.

I think things have gone quiet because we're waiting to see where Durant/Horford fall. Hopefully we can swoop in and facilitate something.

If we hadn't signed Turner we'd have that cap space, no? (ducks and runs)

We can still make the cap space... it just would mean cutting some guys.

If millsap is a solid 3pt shooter, so is Evan Turner. They have a 3% difference over their career. And they're best shooting years are practically identical. Evan Turner never had the benefit of playing next to Kyle Korver on a great offensive team though.
Between aminu and Davis, I think we're good at pf and if Vonleh starts coming out of his shell, we're golden.
I think our only need right now is a big defensive minded center.

Basically, I think Turner is going to have a great year, and he fits in great with Terry's offense. He will pretty much always be on the court with 2 of dame Cj and Crabbe. Maybe even all 3 if we wanna go really small. Which I think would be awesome to watch. Evan Turner with the ball on the fast break, with multiple shooters.. We're gonna be getting easy transition 3's or easy dunks/lay ups.

Theres a difference youre missing there bud. Millsap is a pf. Turner is a wing (primarily has been a shooting guard). Turner is generally going to be expected to shoot from 3. So it may be 3% points as you said, but thats a pretty shitty context since they play completely different positions.

What? 3pt shooting is 3pt shooting... And neither of them are solid 3pt shooters. That was my main point.

My second point, was that I think we're already set at pf, and we really need a center. Adding Turner (yes, I realize what position he plays) to our current roster, just further cements our primary need being a center.

Again, problem is a 1-year rental unless you're committed to giving him a 200M dollar contract that ends in 2022 (when hes 37!)
