What kind of dumbass comment is that? Is this bad news that Brooklyn wants to overpay Crabbe? Is the market crazy? Absofuckinglutely. Is Turner a better player than Crabbe? Without question. The one thing he doesn't do is shoot as well. Okay, we have plenty of shooting. People can think independently and arrive at a different conclusion than you. In fact, it's you who needs your fruit rollup and Capri Sun.
Good one maxiep. Guess we will see what you guys think of turner in a year after some of you have actually watched him play for the first time.
The more I think about it, it's probably going to be a choice for Neil of Crabbe or one of Mo or Leonard. We basically can match his $2.75M cap hold plus the $8M in remaining cap before we have to start losing salary elsewhere. A ~$11M offer would consume more than that. It would also tie up enough cap space that we'd be short to be able to sign Turner. To think teams won't make that kind of toxic offer to hurt us is naïve.
So, just to be clear... A) Turner signs for 4 years, $70MM: WORST DEAL EVER!!! WE GOT HOSED!!! B) Crabbe supposedly signs an offer sheet for 4 years, $70MM with the Nets: WHAT A STEAL!!! WE GOT HOSED!!! Good Lord.
I was hoping we might be able to sign Turner, use the remaining cap space, and have the option to resign the three young RFAs.
Both are terrible deals. But I'm still confused as to what the market rate really is. Shit's hitting the fan. That being said.... From my perspective, I'd rather have Crabbe with the current roster than Turner.
Yeah, no. Thats not at all it. Its about losing players that have value around the league for nothing. Both the turner and crabbe deal would be a little rich. Crabbe is younger with more potential and played well for us last year.
Of course, you're correct. None of us have ever seen Evan Turner play. What would we ever do without your genius insight to guide us?
Pray tell, have we lost Crabbe for nothing? And what could we get for him, since you're so wise? And Crabbe doesn't have more potential. He's not as quick, not as strong, not as physical and doesn't have Turner's BBIQ.
1) Even if we match a deal for Crabbe, he is likely gone. The point of my lineups thread is that there is no way to give both Crabbe and Turner the minutes they deserve (unless you do something dumb like extremely curtail Mo's minutes). 2) If we don't match, I'll be disappointed. I was hoping for a Tier 1 FA, and we instead SKIPPED free agency altogether opting to instead "trade" Crabbe for Turner. In essence, we let it bake. Our cap space, to me, represented an extra player, call him Mr. MaX. Mr. MaX was basically injured last year. Now, it looks like we lost MaX for nothing - disappointing.
One's career trajectory is still on the upswing. That statement is debatable as to whether it would apply to the other player. Sadly, that's the player that appears locked to the Blazers.
All im saying is the grass isnt always greener. And lots of people around here have said themselves they dont watch anyone other than the blazers.
Damn i feel like this is groundhog day like the Bill Murray movie and all i see is whining about Turner and FA and yes me trying to convince people stop acting like the sky is falling. I will love to be proving right when all this is said and done and i can say -- Told you it would work out
