That's complete bullshit. Not the retirement, the "because of this". Duncan is his own man. He probably feels he's put off turning to professional D&D long enough.
The Spurs/Mavs comparison is super interesting. Two teams with HOF unique bigs in Duncan and Dirk. The Spurs were extremely good at drafting talent to put around Tim and bringing in veteran players that understood their roles. Cuban just keeps trying to do quick fixes. He is HORRIBLE at acquiring talent. The Rondo trade was a perfect example. He is not a good GM/Owner. He reminds me of Bob Whitsitt a lot.
I had heard earlier that Duncan was not going to retire, so yes the timing of this is indeed suspect.
I will miss Duncan if he calls it a career. One of the few humble superstars the league has. Ginobli should be the first to retire of the formerly big 3 he has been the worst longer now.
Not quite sure what you're saying here. If we'd had a late lottery pick this year would that have made us competitive with the Warriors, or would it have somehow kept Durant from going to the Warriors? Or maybe you're glad that the pick will make us suck more for next year so we get a better pick? You need to be more clear with these jabs.
