This off season has been a major flop... The options are dwindling, but one guy is still out there that are think can be had for a reasonable contract: Boban Marjanovic 7'3" with a 7'8" wingspan, 28 years old, and played a year under Popovic coaching staff. He is someone with potential the fans can get excited about that won't affect our ability to resign Crabbe, Meyers, and Harkless Come on Neil, you have produced a dud in the draft and free agency... This was supposed to be a big summer. Stop looking at mediocre 34-40 year olds that don't move the needle. Boban is not a franchise changer but he is a new center and rim protector fans can get excited about. Who is with me?!
Dude the guy is a novelty player who can play maybe 10 mpg. Not someone to use up all our last lil bit of space on.
I'm sure I'm in the minority but I've always liked Spencer Hawes and he is available via a salary dump.
I like Boban but I would actually rather just throw the Spurs a 2nd round pick to take on Diaw's contract.
No. Thanks to the Spurs signing Gasol, they have to ditch Diaw AND they won't have an exception to sign him in. They can still get him back, but only if nobody offers him more than about $3M (I think). Tell me why Enes Kanter deserves the max but Boban deserves peanuts?
Sigh. Well, this way I could actually see him play 42 games a year. Now I have an incentive to go to Pistons games. It'll be embarrassing when he's so much better than Drummond, though.
Just to be clear: you CAN'T sign and trade a FA who is not originally your player, right? So my dream that this is just a precursor to us sending Leonard to the Pistons for Boban is just a dream?
I think it is safe to say if the Spurs did not make more of an effort to keep him, then he would not have been a difference maker for us. Not saying he can't be decent, just nothing special. The guy looks to have skills for someone his size, but the direction the NBA is moving, if you are not athletic, your minutes will be minimal. Regardless of your size.
