Had KD signed back with OKC, the Thunder had a verbal from Horford saying he would sign there. Birdies are singing that Neil had something in place to land Kanter. Moral of the story, he's still working
Never doubt he is still trying to improve the team. Don't know why he would just sit on his hands and wait to be fired. But apparently some are thinking that's what he does.
No. Please no. We will lose him for nothing next year without early bird rights and 0 capspace in the summer. This Monroe idea needs to die. People are not thinking this idea through. We're not giving up our RFAs for a yr rental of Monroe.
Ho come on... Saying that KD to sign a new contract with a contending team of OKC was a longshot is a bit unfair... In french we say "if you want to kill your dog, accuse him of having rabies". Don't know how well it translates in english
With the cap space they still have, a Monroe for Davis trade would come pretty close to doing it while still being able to retain your own free-agents. That would replace Portland's best defensive big with an offensive big but that would seem to be something Stotts would like.
So what do we do next summer when Monroe leaves us high to dry as he gets his multiple 20+ mil offers? I don't want to lose Davis for nothing.
Neil is the "coulda shoulda woulda" GM. There's another saying which is "make your own luck." I wish Neil would think that way.
rather put in an offer on Sullinger (RFA) as he can play some C and he plays pretty good D and has a decent mid range game
He's probably looking to unload Aminu on someone and use the cap room to sign our own free agents plus another player (Ezeli for example) problem is, no one would apparently take Aminu for absorbing his salary or would ask us for a sweetener we aren't willing to give. So he's probably taking the wait and see approach which is usualy his style but a bit problematic as our own FAs at some point can choose to sign elsewhere, especially if they're not guaranteed a contact with us. A tricky situation
True but his early bird rights transfer to us from MIL if we trade for him. Not that I am saying we should. 2 year deal essentially before he opts out. That is what gets you early-bird.
Doesn't this depend on when he picks up his option? If I misunderstood this, my bad. But the fact that he'll still opt out next summer remains. He can get 25-30 mil easily in the summer.
Aminu is probably one of the most valuable assets PERIOD the Blazers have. Neil is not dumb enough to unload him for capspace.
