It's extremely easy to get Warrior games in Southern Oregon, this team must be losing fans hand over fist.

One positive is that it sounds like the Blazers can opt out of this new deal if CSN doesn't get on DirectTV soon.

"ROOT's distribution agreement with Comcast will end soon and the Blazers were worried it might not be renewed, meaning ROOT could only guarantee distribution on DirecTV, which reaches 33 percent of the Portland market — 22 percent less than Comcast. In the end, faced with the prospect of even worse distribution, the Blazers decided to take less money and fewer years and stay with CSN."

You gotta pick your poison guys. If you go with ROOT sports you take a risk it would not be renewed with Comcast then getting even less distribution that Comcast currently has.

Then all the sudden DirectTV becomes the new villain. All the same shit.

Glad Paul Allen took less money to do the best he can.

    55%>33%

    I'll take it

Re: the opt out, I don't get that from it. He said re-evaluate sooner as this deal is only 4 years vs the 10 before.

I hate Comcast. I think it's a shit organization. The team knew how the public felt about Comcast. They knew that this reaction was inevitable.

I have no reason to believe this will actually happen. What has been shown that the three will stop having their glorified dick measuring contest?

Yes, they put in terms to hope that CSN increases distribution but there is nothing in there that says they can cut bait if they don't. You are reading too much into it until they come out and say something along the lines of what you are thinking.

If we want to speculate I would say it is much more likely those terms are that they get more or less money sent to them depending on how much is distributed.

For starters, the Blazers included terms in their new contract that incentivizes CSN to expand distribution.

Incentivizes could mean they get an extra parking spot at games for each satellite company they allow games to be shown on. Incentivizes doesn't mean much unless you know what the incentives are.

So, their solution to making the product more available to the public had to include eliminating the only access to free games on KGW? Nice job, McGowan.

The Playstation Vue option is something I'll look into once my contract with Comca$$$t is up. I wonder how long it will take Comca$$$t to price the Vue option out of the picture.

    OFFICIAL BLAZER PRESS RELEASE!

TRAIL BLAZERS, CSN NORTHWEST EXTEND AND EXPAND PARTNERSHIP

Multi-year Deal Includes All Regional Games and New Media Distribution Rights

PORTLAND, Ore. (July 6, 2016) – CSN Northwest, part of NBC Sports Group, will continue as the local rightsholder for Portland Trail Blazers game broadcasts, it was announced today by Trail Blazers President & CEO Chris McGowan. Beginning with the new 2017-18 extension, CSNNW will become the exclusive media partner for all regional Trail Blazers games.

“After thorough negotiations with several other potential partners, it became apparent that by building on our existing relationship with CSN Northwest, we have the best opportunity to increase distribution for Trail Blazers games and other programming in our marketplace,” said McGowan. “With the addition of David Preschlack at NBC Sports Group and his background in distribution, we’re very motivated to collaborate on ways to bring even greater access to our fans.”

“We’re excited to extend our relationship with the Portland Trail Blazers beyond the 2016-17 season and look forward to building on the growth in distribution we have achieved over the last few years,” said Preschlack, President of NBC Sports Regional Networks. “We’re also excited to work with the team to determine new ways to reach fans in the Portland area.”

CSN Northwest has seen meaningful increases in distribution over the last few years, thanks to new carriage agreements with Charter Communications, CenturyLink Prism® TV, and most recently SONY Vue, which is accessible on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Amazon Fire TV, Google Chromecast and Roku. These distributors expanded CSN Northwest’s longstanding carriage on XFINITY, Frontier and Wave.

“CSN is committed to super-serving Portland’s passionate fans and thrilled that this new partnership features more Trail Blazers games on CSN than ever before,” said Larry Eldridge, GM of CSN Northwest.

In addition to game broadcasts, the Trail Blazers-CSNNW partnership will continue producing a comprehensive mix of shoulder programming, including Trail Blazers Courtside, pregame shows, halftime updates and postgame wrap-ups. There are also plans to refresh studio sets, on-air graphics and other production elements.

For the upcoming 2016-17 season, Trail Blazers regional game broadcasts will continue to be shared between CSNNW and local NBC affiliate KGW Channel 8. Radio broadcasts of Trail Blazers games will still be found on flagship Rip City Radio AM-620 and on 20 additional stations regionally on the Trail Blazers Radio Network.
