Whiteside just tweeted meme last night that indicates that he's confused. They were just speculating that hes still in play.
I did see the meme last night. I was just confused after I came back out of the tunnel. Thank you for the information.
Everything I have seen, it looks like he intends on staying and that pat Riley let go of wade on purpose. Read an article and it made some good points. Dod pat Riley wanna deal with a dirk, Kobe situation. They get older, they lose their abilities but hold their team back with large contracts. The fact Riley never even called wade proves that theory more. Keep whiteside, get a free agent next season. Save money
Behavior like that will have players thinking, "will they do that to me too?" Not a good look for the organization. Especially after the solids wade has done for them over the years.
I wish I was feeling the shock and awe of Wade leaving Miami. He just hasn't been that great in years. This is nothing like Durant leaving OKC. I also find it very hard to feel outraged that somebody was "insulted" by a multi-million dollar offer. Maybe I'm just empathy-challenged.
It's cold because Wade took a few pay cuts during his prime.....but right now in the best interest of the Heat.....Riley is making the right call. Miami will always be a potential destination for FA's and next year might be a good opportunity to grab one....without Wade's contract on the books.
Not sure if this is tongue and cheek or not, but Wade is from Chicago, and Durant went to GS specifically for a ring, not for market size
Durant for sure, Chicago, not as much. What I'm comparing it to is I didn't see a lot of free-agents flocking to teams like OKC recently and they were very good.
There are some player that other top players want to play with (LeBron) and others that few want to play with. Kobe eventually got a bad reputation. I would not be surprised if Westbrook has one too. Plus OKC had a bad rap for being cheap with the whole Harden trade. I think it is more about the other players on the team than the market.
Who were all the previous free agents flocking to Chicago? They've hardly been a free agent hot spot for big names.
I imagine Riley will stroke his ego; telling him he is now the centerpiece and leader of the team; that he will surround him next year with guys like Russel Westbrook. Not sure how Whiteside will take that; it might actually scare him.
Whiteside is good but not great. I really think he is a bit overrated. I do believe the theory that he was more interested in stats than winning. He was a free agent and wanted to hit it big. I also don't think Wade was a big fan, and when Whiteside got the max and he didn't.....it pissed him off even more.
A couple thoughts: If Ezeli signs; I don't see how he could play with Leonard. I think each could only guard big men inside so that wouldn't work defensively. I guess that Davis and Leonard used to work together defensively OK? So maybe Plumlee would be the odd guy out? As for Ezeli's knees; of course we better check them out real well. But I remember when we traded for Robin Lopez, there was a lot of concern about his hardiness since he missed a lot of time in the previous three years, but that worked out well.
I'm not as concerned nowadays with our new training staff. They seem to be on top of their game the past couple of years.
Dallas making interesting moves. Can't read the local media in Oakland without barf bag. The Warriors, though, have had to give up quite a few key players. They will still be very good, but we know something about GMs who are not chemistry majors.
People have been suggesting he might be another Whiteside-type reclamation project. If the Spurs and Warriors both wanted him, you'd think other teams should have been pushing for him. Good pickup by Buford.
