And meantime Judge is hitting 267 with 16 HRs & 53 RBI but what the hell lets keep giving the light hitting Hicks (202) every opportunity to fail.
He's doing okay - .840 OPS Yanks' two other outfielders also doing well. Ben Gamel .300/.368/.409 Jake Cave .291/.341/.488 Gary Sanchez on schedule, .281/.808, leads team 18 doubles. No knock on McCann, good guy and has been a good pro but I wonder if Sanchez could've put up similar numbers this year. Just a thought in case Yanks possibly thinking of trading Mac. Would also be interesting to see if Cave and/or Gamel can at least approximate what Gardner and/or Ellsbury has done in the past year and half. With or without Cashman, I still believe Hal (aka ownership) will go with the young players to fill the spots after Tex and Beltran are gone and possibly one or two more openings via trades..and I really think Gardner's days are numbered.
...the Yanx won't rebuild with youngsters alone...they won't simply wait and hope while prospects may or may not pan out...going forward there will still need to be a balance between young farm hands and smart FA acquisitions.
No I agree, they need that mix of youth & veterans. And I don't mean 35+ year old veterans who's better years are behind them.
Kid is 21, hit I believe over .300 with 82 steals last year at A ball. Why the fuck didn't this kid start the season at double A. Makes no sense on Yankees part
Yeah, why not reward the kid and quickly promote him out of baby "A" ball after he has a very good season? The kid let emotions and dissapointment get the best of him. Sometimes it happens- they're competitive ballplayers, not Army recruits. And the Yankee org is absolutely horrendous when it comes to developing and putting SP on the fast track to the majors. Yanks are stuck with a few untradeble high priced veterans but there's no excuse for them giving the benefit of the doubt to a couple of SP with ERAs of 5.00 who have never established themselves as legitimate solid pitchers. Nova and Eovaldi should've been pulled from the rotation a while back. Chad Green 25 yrs old has been pitching his ass off all season at AAA: 1.54 ERA/0.98 WHIP, I don't care if he gets rocked, he should've already been given a couple starts in place of Eovaldi OR Nova. imo He's 25 years old, it's time. Give this kid a good looksee for crissakes. Same goes for this other 25 yr old SP Dietrich Enns LH. Next year he'll be 26 years old....and so on..before you know it, he's a journeyman filling out the AAA roster. This season he has pitched to the tune of 1.60 ERA/ 1.10 WHIP in 16 starts AA-AAA and we've been watching Eovaldi and Nova carrying a +5 ERA. Yanks should make the move and do whatever they have to with Nova and give Enns his spot in the rotation.
Nova has fully "recovered" from his surgery....no more excuses. Could be a tough call- he still has good velocity on his fastball and his curveball at times is terrific but Yanks just can't keep running him out there with his numbers especially with a couple of SP at AAA banging on the door.
