Oh give it a rest... Lol my avatar tells you everything you need to know? Here's what it is, it's called comedy. Try it sometime. You may find life easier to handle outside your safe space.

My wife thinks the avatar is funny too? I guess she's a woman hater!

News flash not everyone goes through life finding things to be offended about and then using that to judge people.

But go on do your thang. It's just a forum board at the end of the day.

Sorry you feel that way! But honestly I have no ill feelings towards anyone on here. I have opinions about what gets brought up sometimes and join in on the discussion but you won't see me get offended and complain to mods or dislike people Bc of it.

I'll say my piece or just ignore.

Being called a white male with the presumption of privilege can be very much insulting. Dehumanizing, even.

That's true and Nate did have a point about the cracker, honky thing... that is intended to offend (basically saying the white person is ignorant) and we should avoid it to be fair to everyone. Let's not resort to ridiculous censorship, okay?

Can we just move on now? I never meant for this to blow up into anything and most of the people around here didn't even know I was a woman. I've never made a big deal about the sexism that goes on around here, for the most part it's not that bad... I just take long breaks from time to time when it bothers me. That's why you've seen those - "Hey Spud, it's been a while since you posted, good to see you" posts through the years. As far as I'm concerned I'm just another Blazer fan here to post about my favorite team and the NBA.

That's the people chasing perfect political correctness, people complaining about the people chasing perfect political correctness, people who are just annoyed at the insane escelation over little issues due to the battle of political correctness, the people who make a cringe-worthy, ignorant memes to try to capture an ideal in regards to political correctness, people who take bold stances on the internet to try to look noble or enlightened when it comes to issues of political correctness.

Then there's the people that don't care/don't know better, and usually they are the ones that uses such language or commit actions that bring up this whole firestorm bullshit battle in the first place even though most of them are straight up ignorant to how they're being received in the first place.

I hope you don't think I'm upset with you or intending to insult you. I enjoy talking about things like this. I would rather hash it out, rather than have someone behind the scenes say "that word offends me." At least if people are open about what they think, we can understand why the word is upsetting and be more thoughtful about what we say.

I know I have personally said "that's retarded" at one time or another. Probably not on here, but if I know that the word has significance to Fizz, I will be more mindful of it.

Oh my goodness Nate, not at all! The reason I didn't think my remark would sidetrack the thread is because I DO think people try to be very respectful around here! It was intended to be like... 'come on guys, you're better than that' then back to the real subject matter post. I didn't even think it would get a response and it never occurred to me anything would be censored. People got a whole lot more upset about the subject matter than I did... I was shocked at how sensitive people were about it. I've used the word retarded inappropriately in the past as well and then someone set me straight and I don't do it anymore. You don't know what you don't know, until you know, you know?

I wasn't ever in a rage over anything, especially one word... you have my blessing to use the word vagina all you want as a way to describe the body part but, for some reason, those kinds of subjects are just uncomfortable and awkward for everyone else and hard to work into a relevant post about the Blazers. :deadhorse:

That's it... I have to say it... I love you SlyPokerDog, I really do... is it legal in Oregon for a person to marry a dog? It would be considered hetero so we're good there.

I will express my opinion on these shootings that happen. Now there are some things that have happened which are terrible like the Eric garner shooting, the Minnesota one the other night. There is no excuse for the police in any of those. Not all cops are bad. Not all are good. It's a mix but I'm tired of people jumping to conclusions and calling cops racist because the person was black or that "they are hunting us". Yeah I'm sure cops wake up every day saying "ah yes, time to kill a black person today.". If you watched the Minnesota video the cop basically is on the verge of tears and is obviously regretful and shaken up by what he did, then tries to rationalize it. White people also get killed by cops a lot but you don't hear about it. Just a few weeks ago in Gresham this kid bodie phelps got shot and killed police after he wouldn't put down the knife. Of course people tried to make it look like he was innocent but anybody smart these days will know regardless of your color or anything, if you don't comply when dealing with guns, knives, you will most likely get shot.

People seem to forget the other side here. Being a police officer is an impossible job I don't think anybody is fit for. These men and women have families too. They gotta get back home. So when a man has a knife or a gun in possession and they are restraining, these cops panic because guess what? They wanna see their kid grow up, they wanna live and the worst case scenario often fills their head at that moment and adrenaline and panic kick in. This us vs them mentality is something that needs to go. Cops only get more uneasy when you have black people on Twitter talking about killing cops as revenge and same with whites. If you are really gonna spin the Louisiana shooting into "two racist white cops executing innocent man for selling CDs" then you're lost. I can't have a conversation with you because logic left your brain. its a 30 second video this guy was restraining. This guys partner heard him say "gun! He's got a gun!". I ask what you would do if you heard that. Dude was obviously restraining and police saw him reaching. Do any research on the guy, you will find a nice criminal history. Not saying that's why he should of got shot, I wish it never got to that. I'm just saying, that provides a lot of info on the character we might be dealing with here, posting pics on FB with guns and what not.

I have been harassed by cops and I'm white. Some cops are racist. Some cops are very bad but this idea that all cops have this agenda is the most ridiculous thing the black community have come up with. The idea that black people can never be racist. Black people are probably more racist than whites in this day and age. A lot are taught from the jump that we are the white devil. I get tired of the regressive left jumping at me saying I'm so priveledged because im a straight white male. That is the biggest bullshit I ever heard. I know so many white people that work their asses off just to pay bills. Men and women. We have a black president for fucks sake, if that doesn't tell you how far we have come, then I don't know what the hell to tell you.

Couple more things and notably what dame touched on. Black on black crime is a real issue that never gets spoken about and I have no clue why. These specific black people and white people jump all over these hash tags saying justice for whoever. In the hood when somebody gets killed, NOBODY speaks up to police because they don't wanna be "snitching". So how the fuck can you talk about getting justice when your. communities aid the killer all the time?!
Look at the south side of Chicago and all the black lives lost there EVERY WEEK. I forget the number but 4th of July weekend was fucking terrible with shootings in Chicago. Black people murder each other at an alarming rate but it's never brought up. Simple fact is, the media has an agenda to create race wars and divide and it's working.

One more thing. Racist gets thrown out way too much. I'm no where near a racist. I question what the hell some of the black community does but that doesn't make me a racist. If anybody has dipped there foot into black culture it's me. Shit I grew up on hip hop, most of my heroes are black. Chappelle, Ali, MLK, Anderson silva, etc. I'm deep into the game of basketball. I'm a huge fan of Damian lillard. I think he's what young black men should aspire to be.

This is already a super long post but other than that peope need to chill these days. Like I said we choose to give words power. If somebody calls you something, that's on you to make that a big deal or move along with your life. Life is way more crazier than a couple words I use mostly within my personal relationships. People get offended by everything and it's truly ridiculous. I fear for the kids growing up. My girlfriend of 4 years little brother and dad have died in the past year and I grew a lot and went through a lot of shit with that so when I see all this petty bullshit every day on social media and what not, I usually just stay in my lane and don't surround myself with those people. Sorry but I would rather live a positive life with a sense of humor as opposed to trying to find an issue in what people say and get offended and be fucking miserable. Long ass post, cool if you read through it. If not I don't blame you, I'm not offended.

Guys like to think they are tough. They like to say stuff that makes them feel tough. So if someone says something that deeply offends you, ask them to either apologize or prepare to fight.

Most people are not willing to fight to defend their use of a word. So if you are offended by a word, back it up with your fists. This will usually stop them from ever using the word again, in public at least. Easy peasy.
