When I'm at work on my laptop, I get a lag when I create a post. The typing lags. It isn't lagging when I create a fresh thread, but if I'm replying in a thread I get the lag, so I'm thinking it's a memory issue (laptop probably doesn't have much.)

Is there any way to turn down the memory usage on this site?

I've always had streaming videos freeze up on the trailblazers home page....I go to youtube and it's not a problem but the advertisements work fine on the homepage but the streaming there really sucks.

It only seems to lag here when someone is posting simultaneously when I am...at least that's what I think is the reason

Install a browser extension that blocks all the add-ons this site has. Facebook, twitter, google+, Akami, comScore, Nielson, etc. If you use Chrome then one option is the "Disconnect" extension.

I just know that I can type posts on Reddit with zero lag, but this site for some reason gives me lag on my laptop. I don't have the problem with my PC, but I have 32 gigs of ram on my PC.

Try Firefox or Chrome with Adblock Plus running. Depending on the platform, they've solved every recurring problem I've had with this site and several others.

There's an Adblock for IE? Really? I'd still try FF and/or Chrome...

If it's slugish while typing, it's your laptop that's slow.

Reddit uses a plain old textarea as its editor. XenForo has a WYSIWYG editor. You have the option to use a textarea if you like:

If you do not use the rich text editor, you will have to hand code the bbcodes if you want bold face, etc.

Hmmm Disconnect seems to have worked.... or made it not quite as bad. There's still a slight lag but not as noticeable. I turned off Ghostery and added Disconnect.

I know the laptop is slow. My PC handles the site just fine. I'm just saying that there is a higher memory usage from this site compared to something liked Reddit. Using the other extension seems to have made a difference though.
