Texas asked for federal aid in state of emergency after blasting federal government...

Sure, right, I guess honest people stand around and wait to get shot.

Everything bigger in Texas, including jerks.

It's a dumb thing to say... I get the point - they're there to protest the police and it was the police rushing in to protect them.

With that said, of course the people should be running away. The worst possible thing they could do is stay in the area and add to the problem. It's much better if all the bystanders clear out and let the police do their job.

Yeah, they were all "fuck the police" but when shit goes down they probably used the police as human shields and felt safer because they were there.

It's not really a good point, though. It's a perfectly coherent position to want an institution but also want it reformed. BLM wasn't protesting the existence of a police force--they were protesting the abuses of the police force and the lack of accountability.

I saw videos where the cops were rushing in and the asshole protesters were still doing their stupid "don't shoot" with their hands up thing.

I didn't say it was a good point. I said I understand the point.

5 police officers dead and 7 wounded by what they believe to be 2 snipers with 3 people of interest involved in the shootings.

I don't know what quite to say or think about our nation at this point.

Many people, police included, thought it was fireworks at first.

What exactly is stupid about holding up your hands and saying "Don't shoot"....to me that's the smartest move you could make in a crowd with gunfire and cops

Fuck these people and anyone supporting these people. This behavior needs to be eliminated from this country.

Smartest move would be to get the fuck out of the way and remove yourself from the street.

Minstrel is absolutely right. I protest the actions of the US government; I also vote. I protest the way medical care is organized but I still go to doctors when needed. I protest the way food is grown and processed and the food service workers treated but I still do eat and while I grow a lot of food I do buy most of it. Wanting to change something is not the same as saying it should not exist. You could, in fact, make the opposite argument, that those who protest are the ones who care most.

Because they're doing it to cop cars as they try to drive through a crowd? I have yet to see a police car that can shoot someone. Maybe soon though?

This was after people were running and screaming and the police were trying to drive to the scene through the mob.

They're not doing it to anyone or thing...it's for self protection and I don't see that as an issue

Yeah, those seven young kids doing dumb things are definitely the main problem with the country.

    Shooter lived with his mother.

That only adds to the uneasiness I have about some of you.

If I had to blame "the media"' I'd blame the social media. If your family member was shot and killed after being pulled over for a broken tail light, you'd make a mountain out of a "molehill" too. The national media is only reporting what has already been put out there by Joe Public. Joe Public was already pissed off before the national media got involved. And blaming Obama for this situation??? You ARE joking, right??? That makes as much sense as blaming him for the Lindbergh baby kidnapping or the Kennedy assassinations. My God, "we" as a country have stooped so fucking low. How the hell are we going to resolve these issues when we create false bogeymen to place the blame on. I'm a mellow old white guy but I can promise you that if I am detained by the police on a bullshit rap, and they put me face down on the ground for ANY reason, I'm going to be an angry MF. Several years ago I was detained under suspicion of DUI. I was completely sober and utterly cooperative and compliant. Yet the asshole who detained me made every effort to goad and provoke me into a negative response. When he cuffed me, I was made no effort to resist. Yet, because he apparently was a moron when it came to putting cuffs on, he made it appear to his buddy that I was resisting, and I got pretty well manhandled as a result. Just because a cop claims a suspect was resisting doesn't make it the truth. In too many cases it's a bullshit lie to justify incompetence at best and murder at worst. You want to blame the blacks and I want to blame the cops but the truth lies very much in between.......
