I could totally see this happening.... and then when we match Harkless, they do it with Leonard and we laugh at say goodbye.

The good thing is there are a lot of dumbshit GMs that would trade for Crabbe despite the contract.

Comparing a starter like Parsons with a 6 man like Crabbe usually doesn't give an accurate picture...Parsons was the number 2 option on that Dallas squad behind Dirk

The overriding concern may actually be Neil's reputation. If he is known around the league as someone who'll match RFAs, then his players are less likely to receive offers. OTOH, it does make us more vulnerable to a ridiculous offer for Harkless.

My guess is that Neil is spending a lot of time on the phone looking to trade Crabbe.

Well..... so did Crabbe actually sign the sheet? The timer doesn't start until the offer is signed. Once it's signed, that's all she wrote.

    What?
Assuming Crabbe signed, we have 3 days to figure out whether to match. If Neil has offers from Sac or somewhere during those 3 days, then we definitely match. There are plenty of teams that are not considered FA destinations that could be interested in Crabbe.

Can we immediately flip him once we match? Obviously it would include the trade kicker, and we can't trade him to Brooklyn.

But we can't trade him until December, no?

I don't think you should worry about his reputation. You sign a guy or not based on his value to your team. Matching a dumb contract to try and make other people see you as a "Matcher" would be dumb.

Well, he might have a point. If you can sign-and-trade someone, maybe we can match-and-trade him somewhere.

You can't trade any July free agent until December, Plus I think Crabbe's has an extra kicker preventing it for the whole year....Unless he ok's it

But you can sign-and-trade a player, so why can't you match-and-trade said player? Unless, as you said, his kicker prevents it.

Because the trade isn't part of the offer sheet.

My understanding is once he signed the Net's offer sheet, we can't match it, with the sole purpose of trading him just to get value. That screws over the player. So we have to wait until x amount of days. (Not sure exactly how many)

IIRC from reading Larry Coons site it's January 15th on a matched offer sheet.
