Black man in Minnesota had a concealed weapon permit, shot by police.

Black man in Dallas who was legally carrying a long gun to protest attacks against his 2nd amendment rights, publicly labeled as shooting suspect, detained and interrogated for hours by police.

    NRA stays silent.

If these men were white I very much doubt the NRA would not be saying anything.

As the nation's largest and oldest civil rights organization, the NRA proudly supports the right of law-abiding Americans to carry firearms for defense of themselves and others regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation.

"The reports from Minnesota are troubling and must be thoroughly investigated. In the meantime, it is important for the NRA not to comment while the investigation is ongoing.

"Rest assured, the NRA will have more to say once all the facts are known," the statement said.

The NRA didn't release that statement until people started asking why no statement.

"Critics are calling out the National Rifle Association for not quickly coming to the defense of Philando Castile, who was fatally shot by a police officer in Minnesota this week after reportedly acknowledging that he had a weapon and a concealed carry permit."

"But Friday afternoon -- almost two days after Castile was killed -- the NRA posted a statement on Twitter. It did not mention him by name."

You complained they didn't. They did.

They don't comment on any other shootings by police or of people by other non police.

According to you they don't release statements immediately after shootings. (psst... they did)

Hilarious that people want a statement from the NRA. I'd keep my stupid mouth shut too if I were them.

It's like the ACLU defending NAMBLA or something. Keep that shit on the down low and hope nobody notices.

High profile mass shootings they have. They don't for each of the thousands of other shootings a year.

What are they supposed to say about the cops shooting black men? It has nothing to do with 2nd amendment rights. Those are complicated by issues of race, disparity, discrimination, and other things not related to the NRA's purpose.

But they did release a statement about the shooting in Minnesota. You yourself said they did.

What they haven't said anything about is something that does fall right in line with the NRA's purpose, a man protesting in support of his 2nd amendment rights, falsely labeled a suspect by the police, picture given to every major news organization in the USA, taken into custody, interrogated, and finally not released until after a family member showed up with an attorney. This man did nothing wrong, his only crime was being black.

The criticism I see is they aren't standing up for the 2nd amendment rights of the two black shooting victims.

They're not going to come out and defend the individuals who commit crimes with guns. They're right to wait for the facts to come out.

The man you're talking about was questioned and released. His 2nd amendment rights weren't violated.

A broken tail light is not a crime with a gun.

Good, then we both agree. We have no problem with the police taking into custody and questioning everyone legally carrying a weapon.
