A lot of people think he's at least up there with the greatest.

He was just so consistently good and led his team to consistently great winning seasons.

I can't say sad day. He had a phenomenal career, he played and acted with talent and class. He is a sure first ballot hall of famer. He made a ton of money. His team won a ton of titles. Best of luck to Duncan in his future career, whatever it may be.

Was just going to comment on this very thing.

TD was not only a great basketball player, but by all accounts, a great human being. As rare as his talents were, his humility wasn't far off.

Hunh. So he won more games than he blinked in that time span?

Timmy's such a poor sport, he's the only player in NBA history with 2 technicals and and ejection for laughing.

Tim play the right way and carry himself has a pro. Tim didn't play the game for money he play for the love of the game. Every NBA player should look at Tim has the model of the game. It blessing to able to watch him throughout his career. 1st ballot Hall Of Fame.

Duncan went out like John Stockton...just probably cleared his locker and drove home. Really a legend. Now.....can we hire him as a big man coach please?

There was chatter on the day he decided to exercise his option that wether he would play or not was still up in the air. Then it was kind of a little louder chatter on the 4th.

Spurs fans won't truly realize how great Duncan was until they look to LaMarcus to replace him.

So glad he's not doing a Tim Duncan appreciation tour final season but that's obviously not the kind of person he is.

    Legend.

Nope, no farewell tour, he's the kind who would quietly shake everyone's hand, generously tip the clubhouse manager, and pack his gym bag.

Happy retirement Tim! If you're starting an all time starting 5, he is the power forward.
