Problem is that we have too many rotation players for the rotation. Assuming we keep Harkless, there's 11 guys who probably deserve minutes. That's simply not going to work. But sure, if we could get Griffin for Meyers Plumlee and Vonleh, that'd be great--of course we'd have to wait until January to be able to do so.
How about this trade: Boston sends out picks to somebody as well. Pros: OKC gets two Oklahoma players (and a Brooklyn pick?) Philly gets an all-star PG and STILL has a glut of big men Clippers get offense AND defense, just not in the same player (they're probably the team most likely to object, though) Boston is LEAST likely to object, except at Kanter's ridiculous salary. Makes the Clips weaker. Blake can be a FA next year so maybe his value is lower? If that's true, then it's good for us.
I assume you mean for the Clippers. Yeah, that's a problem. If they're keeping Chris Paul, they're in win-now mode. But then why would they trade with Boston directly? Also, if they're keeping Chris Paul, they wouldn't want Westbrook. Conversely, OKC wouldn't really want Chris Paul, because they're rebuilding. (Also: remember your Kevin Love reasoning? By that reasoning Griffin's impending free agency limits what the Clips can ask for him.)
Maybe his value has diminished because the Clips played so well without him last year? (Whereas, of course, they totally imploded against us without Chris Paul. Maybe Chris Paul doesn't like him? Paul is notoriously grumpy.
I guess if the plan is to parcel off their stars and rebuild, then the deal is fine.... but trading for Bradly and Johnson if you're rebuilding doesn't make much sense to me. The Brooklyn pick is nice though. Maybe we could get an offer on Jordan if they're blowing it up.
I know you've got Los Angeles Starstruck Kia celebraties on the mind but....I can't stand Blake Griffin....if that means deactivation..bring it on! FAMS!!!
Blake going to BOS and LAC getting guards back opens up the possibility of CP3 to CLE, Kyrie to OKC, RW to LAC as the principals in a Super Friends join up. Also leaves CLE with Love + ??? For Melo.
If OKC called up Cleveland tomorrow and offered RW for Irving, the Cavs would do it. They wouldn't even hesitate.
