Cubs possibly offering a good hitting 1b prospect and neither he or Bird can play the outfield? Vogelbach is 6' 250 lbs, looks like this kid is slated to be a 1b or DH, we already have Bird and both are LHB....do the Cubbies have any outfielders with some speed and power? ugh
I might do it for Chapman since he'll be a FA after this season.

Being a "rental" Chapman should be first out, but how many other teams out there want to chance his status.

...if you're talking about ARod, no way should they allow him to surpass the Babe's 714...in fact, if they concede the season, and I think they should, they should part ways with ARod right now, same for Tex. (their salaries should be irrelevant)

...trade Gardner, Chapman, Miller, and anyone else that might garner a good return on a trade.

...on another another note, if Cashman has any brains at all he should resign...at least that way he has a chance of landing another job somewhere by giving the false impression that he knows what a GM is supposed to do.

Francesa was talking about this on WFAN earlier. Cashman can't sell off without the approval of the ownership and that's the problem. They don't look like they want to put away August and September even though that's what should be done. So you likely have a GM who wants to do the smart thing but ownership and their cronies who don't want an empty stadium. They have chips in Beltran, Gardner, Miller and Chapman. It would make no sense not to move them.

That was probably the case for quite a while....it comes down to the people writing the checks. Could be wrong but wasn't Hank the driving force behind re-signing Arod ?

...if that is true and if that's the case, why have a GM at all?...and why even refer to him as a "GM" when a "yes man" would be a better description.

Checking the talent pool in the Yankee organization, they show little strength at 3rd base & SP.
If the rumors are close to true, trading Chapman & others for other team's best prospects is the
way to go. It makes sense but then again we are talking about the Yankees, 21st century edition......
big on promotional verbiage, little on actual talent.
