NOTE: TODAY'S STARTING TIME. LHP - C.C. Sabathia (5-7, 3.94 ERA) VS. RHP - Chris Tillman (13-2, 3.29 ERA) Lineups to follow.............
The heat is on..........and the Yankees are heating up at the stadium. Let's hope CC can go six and the bats get hotter.
TODAY'S STARTING LINEUP......... LF - Gardner (260) CF - Ellsbury (272) RF - Beltran (304) C - McCann (237) 1B - Teixeira) (189) SS - Gregorius (296) DH - A-Rod (213) ( Damn Joe, its about time, you're learning ) 2B - Castro (259) 3B - Torreyes (224) GO YANKEES!!!
On paper the pitching match favors the Orioles. Lets hope that between the lines the Yankees will pull off a sweep. This team is still 8 games under .500 against the AL East top three. The Kool Aid is still at the store but to this point in time the Orioles may take the notion that this Yankee Team can scramble eggs.
If he keeps permitting base runners going to be a bad gig. Jones excepted the Orioles have a good line up today.
They need this sweep if they want to make a little noise and at least make the next few games kinda interesting.....funny thing is IF, IF the Yanks can complete this sweep and kinda hold their own in these next 6 vs SF/Houston, they could still be in selling mode with an eye on possibly improving the current team with any younger players they may acquire. Chapman comes to mind- Yanks can deal him and still have Betances & Miller in the pen going forward in the immediate future.
Yankees failure to get Tillman early may cost them today. Can't see Sabathia going past the 5th or 6th even if he keeps it 2-1
Credit to Sabathia, after a string of poor starts he put together a nice one today giving up only 2 to a heavy hitting ball club. Joe G send the man to the clubhouse for a Jimmy Buffet "Cheeseburger In Paradise" he earned it.
You have to get to pitchers like Tillman when they give you a chance early. Once you let them settle in it's usually lights out. Another run for Baltimore here and it could close things out.
Too bad the Yankees could not sweep. Given this teams circumstances a split would have been good, the Yankees did better with 3/4. Had to tip the cap to Tillman today.
time to stick a fork in CC, ... I don't like to 2nd guess Joe, but- Leaving CC in to face the top of the order in the seventh, was a mistake... The Birthday boy, didn't get the gift of a Win...5 hits in all for the Yanx, Druthers.....
The recent trend, and a poor one at that, Yankee starters struggling to get through 6 innings......... These guys have failed miserably to pitch into the 7th inning. If it ain't gonna happen, how do you expect this team to battle for a playoff spot? I need a drink!
