If you want to check out almost all of the islands then you can do a 7 day inter-island cruise that begins and ends in Honolulu and stops overnight at 2 of them (so you almost get 2 full days at those two islands) then hits most of the others for 1 day each. Pig out in the dining room on the ship free of cost. You won't be as secluded as renting your own place of course but you will get a great idea of which island you want to spend more time at in the future after seeing them all. Just another option to consider...
Probably too long (something the HCP has never heard from Mrs HCP) Will there be 7 days off during the break? I have a friend that did the cruise though and LOVED it. I have always wanted to do it, but I always opt for an all inclusive somewhere.
It runs every week from Saturday to Saturday @HCP so yes, it depends on if you have 7 days off that fit that timeline. I haven't gone on it yet but I am booked to do it next year.
Yeah. Its Lanikai Beach in Kailua on Oahua about 20 minutes from Waikiki. Its pretty sweet, there are big turtles in the water and its really calm and blue. I don't remember any resorts around there though and its hard to park sometimes. Its a cute little town, there might be some bed and breakfasts. Its a little isolated on its own, so for a week you might get bored out there. I've only been to Maui (other than Oahu), while there was more nature and shit like that, the water and sand were both rougher than Oahu.
No, only just passing by. My best memories of places we stayed was on the south shore of Lanai, anchored in Hulopoe Bay. We had the beach to ourselves for the week we stayed there. There is a little park on the east side of the bay, at the end of the beach just back up above the beach. Each day, some locals would come down after work to the park to visit and usually bring us some of the local produce. Fresh cut Pineapples and other good stuff. It was Great! It's not very far across the Auau Channel to LaHaina from there, maybe 15 miles, but it is out of sight and seems a world away.
Been to Maui/Oahu/Big Island Loved Maui, you can find really chill spots. Obviously Oahu is not what you're looking for. Big Island is Meh.... Kauai, which i have not been too, i've heard amazing things about. So even though i havent been there, id recommend Kauai
