For this Yankee team, this is a tough match up. If DeGrom is on........but, then again if Tanaka is on........ This could be.......who blinks first? or shits the bed first?
Remember Whitley vs De Grom debut for both back in '14. hoped that Whitley would be a nice find. Should be a good game, hope the Yankees win.
Yep, I do, Whitley's debut May 15, vs de Grom, Chase threw 4.2 IP, w/2 H, 4 SO, 2 BB, 0 ER, while Betances came in to throw 2.1 innings, as a middle reliever, PRIOR to Adam Warren entering the game....(hard to believe that was only 2 yrs ago).... I recall that year, the Yanx needed SP's badly, Chase's ERA at SWB was a nice 2.01, .... then the call up, ..... from Tampa Bay, to NY, and back to Tampa Bay....
Gardner -LF Ellsbury -CF Teixeira -1B McCann -C Gregorious -SS Castro -2B Headley -3B Hicks -RF Tanaka -P
Heard from a couple of sources including Cashman that Judge, Sanchez and Austin will be here very soon and will play. Sanchez will get at bats catching and at DH..... Yanks pushing the issue with the young players and want to begin to find some things out. Good news indeed, should be exciting getting a good look at a couple of these players. Ben Gamel is already here....and I want to know why the hell isn't he in the lineup tonight? This kid has hit .300 two straight years at AAA....WTF Girardi? You fukn asshole, put the kid in there against DeGrom....it'll get easier from there. Joe The Genius! And....with the callups, Arod's future with this team is in serious jeopardy.
Tanaka made deGrom work. Gardner 3 pitches and adios. Leaving men on base is becoming a daily habit...............for that matter, that goes for both of these teams.
One of those games, De Aza and D'Arnaud, two most likely home run hitters connect, Yankees offense quit thus far.
How many hit's have these Yankees averaged per game? I'd say between 5 and 7 hits a game. Little did we know if they couldn't score early against deGrom, they weren't going to score. These Yankees are not difficult to solve. And it looks better for the bad guys of New York.
the entire year, Gardner's been horrible in LF and at the plate. He's not able to catch or field a ball, unless its hit right at him. Rarely getting the jump most other OF'rs can, as the balls hit, (watching the bat, knowing where the balls going before it gets there).... then we've got to watch his rubber noodle limp dick arm, of which he always seems to throw a one hopper to the cutoff man, out in the grass....Johnny Damon's weak limp noodle arm, looked strong (and it was pitiful) compared to Cpt. Fantastic's arm, which look like a little league'r playing on much too big a field..... top o' the 8th, Cpt. Fantastic blows another, off the wall, scramble around like a chicken without a head, maybe have to rename him to Cluckcluckfuckaduck.....
^^^^^and this LF is the best the Yankees have ? It looks like it until one of the kids can kick Gardy to the sidelines! ? Oh wait, I mean 'to foul territory'............will the Yankees have a stable LF.
Can't wait to see this kid. Oddly, when I saw the Scranton games last month he played 2 of the four games.
Sanchez will likely take over the DH role as A-Rod will soon be released. Hal also said that Judge as well others will be called up in September.
From Suzyn Waldman during Monday night's game, and more info from Cashman today in interview with Mike Fatcessa. Yanks will be calling up a couple of the young players within days and intend to give them playing time here and NOW. They want to see what they have and want them to get as much ML experience as possible preparing for 2017. Bird will not see action with Yanks this season but he will be playing winter ball. Judge played tonight at Scranton -Yanks want to make sure his knee is fine, they will then call him up within days and put him in RF. Sanchez should be here Weds, and he'll get ABs catching and DH. Cashman didn't committ either way when asked about Arod with Sanchez slated to get ABs at DH but the writing is probably on the wall for Arod. Cashman also said we could see Ben Heller (Miller trade) for the bullpen -says Heller can hit 100 with his fastball. Yanks also want to see Tyler Austin VERY SOON. He's played RF-LF and also 1B in 70 games this season between AA-AAA. At Scranton batting .311- OPS 1.050, 13 HRs are second on the team. Looks like the Beltran trade and Arod fading has sped up the plan.
Whitley, lol- I remember when the Yanks left him unprotected 2015 and "lost" him to TB. There were a couple of the usual objections and criticisms. Yanks chose to instead protect a 22 yr old strikeout reliever Johnny Barbato, Rookie Davis SP, and Ben Gamel RF,CF,LF. Davis was used as part of the Chapman trade. Gamel 24, LH, was called up from AAA couple of days ago after batting .300 /.769, ...his 20 doubles and 17 SB were second on the team. Also batted .300 last year AAA. He should get a decent chance at some playing time, or maybe a candidate to take over for Gardner. I see once again Gardner has leveled off as a mid-.250 hitter on pace for 100 Ks with little power. This guy is clogging up a spot in the outfield and the Yanks have a couple of "good" O.F. prospects. WTF?
