I've got no problem with a players union banding together to have leverage with owners and opposing mgmt collusion. But IMHO, MLBPA is doing essentially the same thing as collusion when continuing to support proven cheats. Perhaps there needs to be a defacto expulsion from the union as a zero tolerance policy. That then gives owners the legal cover to release guys like ARod without the potential blowback. I'd like to know what high profile FA didn't want to come to NY because of ARods presence.
...to be fair, the MLBPA is the one really pushing for stiffer penalties for PED use...but yeah, I'd like to see language in contracts protecting teams from players like ARod.
