I guess missing 300 games in 5 years doesn't do much for ones legacy especially at 20 mil per year.

I think he averaged about 110 games a year as a Yankee...his slash line as a Yankee is .249 .345 .481 .826 ...sorry, but I don't consider that a good return for $22 Mil a year for 8 years, regardless of how good his defense was.

one of Trashman's biggest follies in more way than one-IMO; other than #13's horror story, no Yanx fan should of ever had to endure....

We could of had Trout in lieu of Tex....

...^^^Matts, I'm not sure but the story as I remember it was that the Yanx had Trout in their sights during that draft but the Angels snapped him up one pick ahead of the Yanx.

    ...^^^

this is what I was referring too, and should of clarified, tho' its a bit of a brain twister to me this am. The many odd ball rules of Drafting, moving picks around, trading this guy for that, and this, throw in Free Agency, then Rule 4's, and this old man's head gets to spinning....if this is any Indica-tion of the state I'm in......"oh you don't know the shape I'm in".....

It has been subsequently documented in interviews with Eddie Bane that the Angels had their sites squarely set on Trout all the way and took Grichuk ahead of him to assist in leveraging his asking price in case he asked them what they believed him to be worth. It turned out he was an easy sign. The Angels had the #25 pick and right after selecting Grichuk they selected Trout with that pick. This pick was awarded to them because the Yankees had signed Mark Teixeira. If the Angels had re-signed K-Rod and Teix, the Mets or Yankees surely would have drafted Trout. Wouldn't they have?
