When I was young if you didn't wanna go to work you called in sick.
Over the years people have started saying called out. They say it's more accurate because you call to say you'll be out.

I say that you call in to your work to say you will miss work as you are sick.

Anyway, the called out people have won. I hate it but I surrender.

My old job had paid sick leave and I left a lot of it on the table when I retired...my coworkers milked every hour they had so the school had to pay them and a substitute to replace them..it turned into a financial disaster for the school. I never thought being paid to be lazy was the right thing to do. I've also never applied for unemployment benefits in my life....if I needed another job, I went right out and found one. I could've gotten PTSD money after the war but I don't suffer from it...doesn't stop lots of guys I know from milking a govt check for giving up...My advice...giving up is bad for the soul.

I left an old job with a month of sick leave accrued, but never used it. The only time I've missed work was when I was actually sick. The idea of taking a "sick day" when you mean "I don't want to go to work" seems foreign to me.

Hell, I was just given the option of using my sick leave to take a personal day, and I wasn't too interested in doing that. Mostly because someday I might NEED to use my sick leave.

You don't call out. You call in to work to say you'll be out.

    Thanks, Obama.

I worked uphill in the snow, both directions. We didn't get paid, in fact we had to pay the boss. When we worked overtime, which we always did, we'd pay him double. And if we ran out of money we'd just cut one of our limbs off and give it to him.

    Man, I miss those days.

Man, a diagram of the way your brain works would be amazing. I'm picturing a plate of spaghetti and no matter which strand you follow, you always end up at the same place.

People say "call out" instead of "call in" sick?

I always thought calling someone out was for a gunfight outside a saloon in the wild west
