A player from the 50's demonstrates some extinct shots. Though some like Meyers are bringing back the push shot.

You can see why the set shot died out. It would be extremely easy to block today.

Yeah unless you're 7'1". Also that one handed push shot feels like the grandfather of the flea flicker we all want Dame to master.

The push shot or the hook could still be very useful today, but the set shot is obsolete for a reason.

Sabonis & Walton both were really good with the hook shot. Of course, Jabbar was the master of the sky hook. I don't know why more big men today don't master that shot. Done properly, it's virtually unguardable.

Curry often shoots a 3 pt shot with a layup type motion...scooped off his hip...Taurasi does it in the WNBA too...sort of a teardrop floater that goes 30ft

    It's a pure one-motion shot.

The push shot is just a floater. Same thing.

This. Also Rick Barry said Shaq refused to learn the 2 hand underhanded free throw. Barry shot that at about a 91% clip. Imagine how many kids would've been shooting underhanded free throws if he would've swallowed his pride. Imagine what his numbers would've been had he gotten his FT% up to 70%.
