Someone who I consider as a legit source just told me... that the Lakers were working a multi player trade for an All Star calliber playerHe didnt give me a name but he told me it was being pushed by Phil Jackson and is built around a substantial upgrade to the point guard position.Take it for what it's worth. Not trying to break a story here, just what we be hearin. Hollaa.
I think an upgrade would be good. Smush is an ok combo gaurd. But is a terrible PG and needs better shot selection. Maybe a veterean pg or someone like Andre Miller
I think it's time for Smush to move on. Add a solid stater quality point and the Lakers fix their main problem. It would give them a much more solid rotation and take care of what I see as their only big problem as of right now.
Word on the street is that it's a deal for Kidd that would send Kwame and Smush to New Jersey (with fillers of course). Not only is it highly unlikely, but I wouldn't even like the deal if it were to happen. The Lakers are in a great spot for the future right now. With this trade they would have to start winning basically now.
Seriously doubt that happens...Chuck, why in the heck would the nets do that for kwame and smush? granted kidd isnt getting any younger but he is still in the top 5 PG's in the NBA

And if they're seriously shopping for Kidd, that means Carter is probably leaving this summer because they'd be revamping the roster. I'm not sure they could get much better for a 34 year old point guard with that big of a contract, but I hope to God they do. Because I'd hate to see the Lakers sabotage their future for an immediate run for glory.

It would eliminate any kind of free agent pickups in the next couple of years and make it a now or never type of deal as far as winning a championship.
Ya I agree with Chuck, if that trade was to go down with the Nets I wouldn't like it one bit. He's getting old but can still play for a couple more seasons, but the Lakers I guess are going for younger players by looking at their team. But Smush for a veteran PG or a nice young and rising PG would be nice too.
If the Lakers got a veteran PG, they would be even more closer to being a solid team. I like that idea of Andre Miller, but highly doubt that will happen.
A veteran PG? Nah I don't think that will help this team. They are built pretty young, with Lamar Odom still developing and Kobe in his prime they should try and snag a young PG. Ideas of this would be guys like Sebastian Telfair or Brevin Knight, someone who can really develope on a team like Los Angeles to give them that slight bump up to the championship contension. In the playoffs I promise you Lakers will make some noise, I expect them to knock out one of the Elite four in the West with Kobe getting on fire.
Word on the streets is that Andre Miller may be avaliable with the Sixers getting rid of all their older talent with bigger contracts (Iverson, Webber). So, Miller could be a possibilty. He could help the Lakers, but with all the championships the Lakers won in the triangle offense, they had a point guard who could shoot 3s. Andre Miller isn't really a shooter. But, hey, it could work. He's a great PG.
I would only pick up a veteran PG if they really would have a chance at winning a title in the next 1-2 years. Miller is an awesome passer.
Well Miller isnt like old. Hes only been in the NBA for 6 years so he would be with the team for a while and dont forget they have Kobe who will probably still hold up the scoring load so maybe they need a passing first point guard. Sebastian Telfair in a Lakers suit is a possibility for a young PG.
That's true. He's not as old as people make him out to be. He just isn't a "rising star".That gives me a bit more interest in him. Thanks.
imo Kidd is still the best PG in the league and if he were to go to LA the Lakers would become the team they once were imo.
You throw in Kidd with a HEALTHY squad... Kidd, Kobe, Walton, Odom, Bynum + Triangle Offense + Phil... no telling how far we go. Outside of Steve Nash and I might be forgetting somone, Kidd is the best PG in the L.Someone said why would the Nets do that? Well let's see, they still need front court depth and the biggest factor yet, THEY AINT GOIN' NO WHERE.Who's the source....?
