    ...so far; .379 .419 .776 1.195 ...and hitting HRs at a rate of 1 every 9.6 ABs.

...yeah, I know this pace can't last forever but I expect his high SO rate to gradually improve as well...and at least we get a peek at what he's capable of.

...he's also doing a fine job defensively. (no errors, only 1 PB, and he's thrown out 3 of 5 base stealers)

Butthead Wallace Matthews baited Joe G by asking if Sanchez had replaced McCann as the regular starting catcher. As usual Girardi was somewhat evasive or tactful in his reply. Granted Sanchez has gotten off on the right foot. The Yankees catching situation as played by Girardi is great as far as I can see. Sanchez has bopped, Romine is an effective back up, McCann is the veteran but very serviceable mentor and DH. I don't know how the Yankees attempts to move McCann are but while still on board all is cool. With Sanchez though we may be looking at another of the Dickey, Berra, Munson and Posada line, not too shabby at all. This team is improving on the fly and good to watch.

...I'm really surprised that some players and coaches don't choke the living shit out of these supposed "experts", many of whom never played the game.

Yes well Holiday Inn Express is the official hotel for sports media & pundits.

Said it earlier, Sanchez making a case for the Posada/ Core4 role. If he brings Munson and Berra traits too, then it will be a privilege to watch.

Yanks have had a lot of promising catching talent. Montero was a huge disappointment. Romine hadn't lived up to the BSS hype. JR Murphy was a surprise until he got dealt and flailed. And Cervelli wasn't even on the radar, he's been serviceable for the Pirates now that the injury bug isn't plaguing him constantly.

Nice to see that we could actually develop talent. If only that were the case with the other half of the battery.

    ...again, I know this pace won't last forever but Sanchez is just off the charts right now;

    .385 .429 .831 1.259 ...and hitting HRs at a rate of 1 for every 8 ABs.

Sanchez will eventually cool off but he not only can clearly hit but I've been very impressed with is play behind the plate. I guess this is why he got that signing bonus at such a young age. He could be the next Yankees superstar.

I've always been pretty high on him. He's the one guy I really followed in the minors. I like seeing it translate to the big stage. He also has that swagger and confidence that you like to see. He will have his rough patches I'm sure but it's not often you see a kid come up and make this kind of slash.

...I was a little concern with what happened with him during ST...but whatever it was, he took care of it. He's doing pretty damned well behind the plate too, and learning a few things about catching and handling pitchers and calling pitches, framing pitches, etc., from McCann and Girardi well help him even more.

...Sanchez is in the perfect spot right now because there's absolutely no pressure on him and yeah, he'll cool off a bit but it's nice to know what he's capable of.

I couldn't help but pull this up today. We all know "Sanchise" is going to cool down soon, he has too, Greek Gods aren't real: or are they in guise of Espanol Magi, in the Dominican Jungle-??

here we are 4 days later, and Sanchez is just as hot as he's been all week. it could take this kids weeks, a month to cool down, not just the HR's, but the personal high this kid gets from seeing his dreams come true...

here's an interesting story from February, on the one player who has all of MLB Fans looking on...

...^^^ to all the above, and now: forward and beyond....

its going to take some time tho'
as we're all well aware, therein lays the beauty- watching future player development on the field, over time, (a reasonable relative amount of time; per player???). Aka- "OJT" ...

    It's gonna take time
A whole lot of precious time
It's gonna take patience and time, ummm
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it, to do it,
    To do it right
