Unbelievable Vic, I've been saying all season that they keep sucking us back in but I'm not ready to drink the Kool-Aide yet.

Last year didn't give a shit about making wild card. This year would be ecstatic if we make it with the kids playing a big part.

Will have to wait for Quick Pitch to see the highlights. Evidently Gardner made a MLB highlight catch out there to save the game. That is one part of his game that has not lost anything. As a defensive left fielder he's right on top of his game. Betances just totally pissed me off this evening almost handing the game to the Toronto. Got the series now hope that Mitchell can live up to his promised ability and sweep these buttheads right out of New York.

Absolutely hopefully Judge can get out of his strikeout mode and they need to keep playing Austin at 1st.

They have nothing to lose at this point. What's great is that all the games are still interesting and mean something.

Yup, it's refreshing. You can really appreciate the beauty and drama of the long baseball season when your team is competitive and wins games in the final month and half.

Yanks are still paying for their poor play in April yet they've been "only" 5.5 - 7.5 games behind since July which is why they're still in the discussion for a playoff spot.

Their remaining schedule is still very tough and top heavy with the three teams ahead of them in their division but it is right there in front of them.
All they have to do is WIN. Lol, yeah I know.

Been over 20 years (1995?) since a Yankee team came from behind in the standings to make the playoffs with a great September drive.

They can't do it unless a couple of hitters and SP step up.

They showed a couple of stats on YES after the game.
Yanks are second in MLB with 40 come from behind wins and 2nd best record in one run wins.

If anything, it shows the team does have some grit.

Also have reached a season best 7 games over .500.
    Yeesh.....like climbing a mountain.

I don't care how they do it but they'll probably need to win at least 70% of their remaining games.

Also keep an eye on Houston, KC and Detroit.
These teams have quite a few games left with "bad" teams.
Detroit has 10 games with Minn and Atlanta.
Houston- 13 games with Whitesox, Oak and LAA (7)
KC - 14 with Whitesox, Oak and Minn

Seattle- 13 with Oak, LAA and Minn

And all the teams ALSO play other WC contenders.
This is going to be a wild race.

...anywho, great win by the Yanx...and I'm glad no one here blew out a vein watching them making it closer than it should have been.

Caught the game highlights on Quick Pitch this AM, great block by Sanchez, that catch by Gardner will be a topic of discussion for some time to come.

I believe Betances cannot pitch three consecutive days and be effective!

And on Gardner's catch...........I still think he closed his eyes and caught an ice cream cone!
Pure luck. Lol. As I always say, "Better lucky than good."

I hear ya, but Gardner DID have a beat on the ball all the way- went back to the wall, was in good position and timed his jump perfectly....the glove made contact with the wall and it fortunately didn't roll out. It would've been a fortunate break for Toronto if the ball rolled out.

I had a problem with Gardner in the top 5th when he allowed a looping liner by Bautista to drop a few feet in front of him for an RBI single, 2-1 Toronto.
Gardner actually pulled up and stopped as the ball floated down.
This could've been a devastating inning as Toronto now had runners on 1st & 2nd one out with Donaldson and Encarnacion due up.

As I always say, "Better lucky than good
I agree- sign me up for that.

...yeah, there really was a lot of luck involved with that catch...of course, he made a good play just to get to it but if his glove is completely against the wall when the ball gets there it easily bounces out of his glove...Gardner even seemed a little surprised he caught it.
