Shaq could have been the greatest basketball player in NBA history.

Only problem is he was a fucking asshole. To the Magic, who he ditched to go to the L*kers to pursue a failed movie/rap career (that was better when he on the Magic). He was my favorite player when I was in High School, he was dope, then he went to the team I'd hate if my own family played for the L*kers. So fuck him. And he was an asshole who always whined, made excuses, etc. He talked shit to other fanbases, other teams, made fun of other team's names. Just a real nasty character.

Those early 2000s Lakers teams? He won because of Kobe? GTFO with that shit. Shaq was fucking unstoppable. Unstoppable. You replace Kobe with Ray Allen on those teams, they'll still win the ring.

If he stayed on one franchise (i.e. the Magic) his whole career from start to end, he'd probably have 8 rings.

He was a mountain that I doubt got any direction post 8th grade. Who would tell him he's an asshole?

I remember him stubbing his toe on the base for the hoop one time when he played for the Magic. He fell on the floor and rolled around screaming like a baby.

He was just a giant kid. Kobe was the same in a slightly different way.

At least he was likeable on the Magic. He had his dope car stereos and shit. The Superman shit, TWISM, all-a-dat. Shaq-nosis. Then went to LA and the shit got to his head. He was fucking horrible. Ruined his legacy, Laker fans don't even appreciate him all that much tbh.

Not even in the Top 10.

Those were the years that Stern had the refs blatantly stealing playoff series for the Lakers. Referees did the same thing to Divac against Shaq in the playoffs.

There it is. Size is not the same as dominance or greatness. Shaq was just a Yao Ming without the injuries.

Not to mention people have the debate over who was the best basketball/rapper and people always say shaq because his album went platinum or whatever. Which yeah, he was a decent rapper but not on that dame level. Shaq can be a funny dude sometimes but man he's full of shit

    > He's big enough to hold a lot of it too. The best career move was consulting an acting specialist.

Some people watched a 7'3" tall man who was as slow as molasses suddenly accelerate out of Shaq's way via a butt bump that NEVER got called.

I watched Sabas' entire Blazer career too, but I'm not going to deny Shaq's ability. I'd wager that more uncalled fouls were committed against Shaq than by him over the course of his career.

Which also worked in his favor, since hacking him as he was bullying his way to the basket still resulted in two points, while calling the foul for the hack before the shot would have put him on the free throw line.

So Shaq's game was 30% bullying his way to the basket, 30% driving around people, 30% dribbling the ball up the court, and 30% shooting pick and pops. But he never got to do that other stuff because he was so dominate inside. At least he didn't claim to be a facilitator.

    I don't know about that.

    upload_2016-9-7_9-43-25.png

Looks like 30/15 with 3 APG and 2+ blocks in two of those championship runs. He played over 40 MPG, too.

PER for those three playoffs: 28.7, 28.3, 30.6.

I'm a big Dwayne Wade fan. He can't win championships on his own. He won only with teammates like Shaq and LeBron. Also, Shaq was 33 years old when he helped Wade win the championship.

Not only where such fouls uncalled, the fouls generally were brutally hard. The guy was so big, opposing players must have thought he could take the beating. But it was still a serious beating.
