Getting my house painted in a few weeks. We are getting a dark grey, with off white trim.

At the top of the front of my house, i have cedar siding. Anyone have thoughts on solid stain for cedar siding? Its supposed to last 8 to 10 years. Whereas the transparent stain is supposed to last 2 to 3 years. We are thinking a lighter grey solid stain for the cedar siding.

Maybe there's a varnish that will last for years, transparent. Polyurethane, for one. Or the stuff they put on the hulls of boats.

That is, if you want to keep the natural color.

Transparent stains are supposed to last 2 to 3 years. And cost a lot more because it takes more prep work
