Okay, that Indian meme is fucking ridiculous. Are we really calling disease "murder?"

And you're looking at the math....

Now don't get butt hurt about the words in the meme. It's the picture that's worth 1000 words.

I love that the "free years started the year I was born" only out of coincidence...much better had it been in 1625

That's racist as fuck. Just because the Chinese are going to be our masters in the future doesn't mean it has to be yellow.

Not 100 million of them. There isn't even a firm number on how many American Indians existed prior to Columbus. I've heard closer to 70 million, but they don't really know for sure.

According to this article on PBS, possibly as much as 95% were killed by disease.

    http://www.pbs.org/gunsgermssteel/variables/smallpox.html

The US definitely did some fucked up shit when it came to American Indians, but don't hang 100 million on us. That's ridiculous.

They lived here without those diseases for generations.... Who brought the diseases? The cognitive dissonance is amazing in this forum....

To call that murder though..... come on man. They didn't understand how disease worked in the 14 and 1500's. Yes, I have heard about the blankets with the smallpox. That wasn't until much later.

So honestly, what do you want from us? Do you want us to go through life hating ourselves and hating our ancestors and hating other white people because of what some people did hundreds of years ago? If you have African ancestry, should you feel bad for all the shit that happens over in Africa? All of the genocide and rape and killing?

Do you feel bad about the genocide in Rwanda?

All silly questions. Japanese got reparations for their internment camps. They didn't build shit... nor did they go through this:

Nor did they get told to win a race while running in lead boots for 400 years.

Not asking for 40 acres and a mule... Figure out the best way to actually help instead of throwing your hands up in the air and showing that you don't care since it doesn't affect you.

I know the NBA is much more strict than the NFL. If the Blazers as a Team took a stance like the Seahawks where they interlock in arms or something similar to offer support or bring awareness to social injustice. Would you as a fan support this? Would you see this as unexceptable for our Veterans?

yes...to me as a fan, I don't want politics mucking up my entertainment choices. Off the court I absolutely support their right to protest, but not at showtime. I paid good money to see a concert years ago and the singer spent a lot of time speechifying political beliefs throughout the show....I was not entertained and felt like I'd wasted my ticket purchase or been tricked into the guy's political soapbox when music was advertised....I feel the same way about the game...to me it's a poor example for the kids at the game. Wealthy athletes can do good social work in the community but gametime to me is sacred ground...it's a distraction from the task at hand.

I like the word "Sacred" and I agree. If the athletes use the free pulpit of the NBA cameras to further their own cause then I say they deserve a fine for disrupting what the fans payed for.
