Given the low ratings of Lillard, CJ, and Irving, the list clearly values defense. Love at #30 slightly contradicts that, but he might have been considered a top-10 player on offense a couple years ago.

Being a bit arbitrary with my picks, I counted 6 players ahead of CJ that I think he's better than:

    Eric Bledsoe
    Giannis Antetokounmpo
    Danilo Gallinari
    Andre Iguodala
    Steven Adams
    Khris Middleton

Two players ahead of Dame that he's better than:

    DeAndre Jordan
    Lamarcus

    CJ - 44
    Dame - 19

So according to you, if a writer agrees with you, he knows what he's talking about and is unbiased. However you have a biased opinion of that reporter just because he agrees with your outlandish opinions. Pot, meet kettle

Thing is, if a writer makes the same arguments you do, then the only thing that writer is, is an absolute idiot.

(Hopefully that last part is indirect enough)

The lost me at: "plays effective team defense".

I don't get into these beauty pageant ratings by on-line "experts". I'd certainly argue about a few of the guys that they rank ahead of Dame and CJ, but what's the point? I would, however, bet that Dame and CJ are both well aware of these ratings and aren't happy about them. If they want to prove that they're deserving of higher rankings they both need to improve their defense (something that the team has said that they're definitely going to work hard at so that they can take a step up). Other than that, the team has to repeat or improve on last year's level of success so that the "fluke" argument goes out the window and so that they get the benefit of the greater recognition that perennial playoff players get.

It's a quasi-word scramble. It translates to: flees to a team that plays effective defense.

I prefer "plays adjacent to" an effective team defense.

No kidding. Why is it that lack of defense counts so heavily against Dame, but not against Harden? Dame at least got his team into the playoffs.

I'm sure we all remember Wes abusing Harden in post-up situations in the playoffs 2 years ago. IMO, Harden's main talent is the art of the flop and drawing of fouls. Is this something that should lead to being ranked in the top-10?

I'm not a Harden fan, but he was the only healthy player on the Rockets two seasons ago, and led them to 56 wins in a tough Western Conference.

    He's obviously an elite player.

All the things said about him are true. The flops and horrid defense detract from his overall play.

Pistol Pete was one hell of a player. Played matador defense - waved at his man as he went by.

Harden is the most manufactured star in the league.

It's sad because I think he actually has the straight up talent to be the best shooting guard, but he's so concerned with drawing fouls that it lowers his overall ability, in my opinion.
