After reading Pestilence's thread about the possible rule change regarding flopping, I had an interesting thought... maybe the referees would be able to get more calls right or do a better job refereeing games if there were more referees assigned to each game. Maybe four or five referees per game instead of three...It is definitely a plausible idea, and I'm surprised the NBA hasn't considered it yet.Thoughts?
Yes, some calls are ridiculous and should really be reviewed and more eyes could stop those plays from happening. I seriousely doubt stern would ever do this though.
I agree with you here, it's nearly impossible for 3 referees to watch every player on the court at the same time. I'm down for adding more referees and hooking up a replay system where coaches can challenge calls.
yes, more refs and also a replay challenge. Something like you can challenge a call and if you lose the challenge you lose a time out
I like the idea also but assigning more refs to games would probably mean they would have to hire more refs and I'm not sure if stern wants to do that.
I'd rather have a replay system over more refs, but both will help out the game a lot. Especially after seeing Mike James get away with that three during the Pistons/Wolves double overtime game.
a replay system would be sh*tty for the NBAthe bad calls are part of the game and basketball is based on fast pace play and this would just slow the game down and teams would ask for reviews to take the momentum away from other teams..it would be pretty lame and ruin the gameand I think people need to stop whining about the refsbad calls are part of the game...just as much as dunks and 3 pointers
