I liked him more when he was starting out. Just have seen so many of his special over the years it's kind of overkill. I remember going to see Carlin and was amazed at how quickly he used new material. I can't think of any comedian nowadays who has that kind of freshness. I think the best comedians right now are Aziz Ansari, Bill Burr and Bo Burnham (if you like music.)
No. After 40 years on this earth, and seeing a hundreds of comedians, I like delivery more than anything. Some of the best comedians have a beat or stressed delivery. Just look ar Dave Attell, he has this patterned speech for joke telling that can stop on a dime.... You can almost predict the frequency of his punchlines. Ansari is also great at this..... it's very catchy and unique. As for the alliteration.... thas an accidental quirk.
THIS IS FUCKING NEWS? THIS IS WHY I DON'T LIVE IN PORTLAND, THE SMALLEST FUCKING SHIT I CAN SEE ANY NIGHT IN LA IS SOME BIG THING YOU HAVE TO PLAN MONTHS IN ADVANCE FOR.
I love standup comedy...Louie CK is just Steven Wright on steroids but he's sort of put out a lot of similar specials that overlap a bit...He could use some material that goes beyond his kids sometimes
Really? Aziz? His standup is so boring to me. No way any of the guys you named hold a candle to Dave Chappelle.
Chappelle was my favorite but he's dropped out of the limelight. And I respect him for doing so. Ive heard some bootlegs of his current stuff and he's still on the cutting edge. But I think he's realized his fame was getting in the way of him being effective as an artist. He's about connecting with the audience. I'd pay a lot to see him live just once.
