Does not look good for the Gotham Nine on paper this evening. Odds makers favor Tampa in this game. That pinnacle of Pitching Perfection Pineda against the Rays has:
0-3 record, 9.31 ERA, 31 hits in 19-1/3rd innings, surrendered 8 runs, not made it past the 5th in his last three starts. So sad that the Yankees can't offer a pitcher lasting deep inside the game to give his team a chance to win. Grease up the pen Joe, the domino effect begins anew tonight. Note to Cashman, you have quite a few more to get rid of.

Yep, remember Pineda getting 12 in one five inning run and still got his ass kicked. Tonight we can thank Mr. Sanchez for the big one. One guy that has surprised is Butler Cashman may have actually got a good find there. Sevey with a "W", Dellin doesn't trash the save. This win gives the Yankees the season series over Tampa.

Butler was always a hit machine, he seems to be an issue in clubhouse based on Royals and A's history.

Sanchez has 17 now, and he could have more RBI's if the guys in front weren't 250 judy hitters

3.5 games out of WC, with the Blue Jays and Astros on the West Coast. They could possibly gain some ground tonight. I know guys wishful thinking but you never know.

The first thing I thought about Butler after the Yankees acquired him was that snit they threw in Kansas City after Cano did not pick him for the HR Derby Team. I knew he had a problem in Oakland but was not aware of a clubhouse problem in KC. I guess he may have jumped ship to Oakland over some younger guys getting more playing time and Oakland did offer a pretty good check. At any rate Butler hitting behind Sanchez forced the Rays to pitch rather than IBB.

...hard to believe but at his current pace, Sanchez could possibly end up leading the Yanx in HRs this year...unreal.

...he could also end up being the ROY.

I agree with you 59 on the ROY but does anyone know if a player has ever won the ROY after playing for just 2 months?

yeppers he did. Tho' Puiggy was in 104 games, I'd love to see Sanchez win ROY...! Regardless of others.

    McCovey won ROY in (1959) - with 192 AB's and 13 HR's.
Sanchez's 18 HR's in 164 at bats; with more to come....!

One can easily make a case for Sanchez ROY/2016....

    Here we go:

If Sanchez plays every single game the rest of the season, he'll finish with 54 games played. The fewest games played by a Rookie of the Year position player is 52 by Willie McCovey with the 1959 Giants. Next fewest? Eighty-eight by Ryan Howard in 2005. Sanchez winning Rookie of the Year with so few games would not be unprecedented, but would be extremely rare.

I'd much rather see Sanchise w/the hardware...but will BBWA??? that's the million dollar Question...
