Re: Arenas says he'd score '84 or 85' against Duke <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>WASHINGTON (AP) -- Gilbert Arenas would like to go back to school and teach Coach K a lesson. The Washington Wizards' All-Star figures he could score "84 or 85" points if he got a chance to play Duke and coach Mike Krzyzewski, who cut Arenas from the U.S. national team last summer.ADVERTISEMENTArenas has promised this season to take out his frustrations about the national team on Krzyzewski's Team USA assistants, Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni and Portland coach Nate McMillan.Arenas scored 54 points against the Suns last month and has said his next 50-point game will come against the Trail Blazers on Feb. 11, prompting D'Antoni to say: "I can't wait to see what he does against Duke. He's gonna kill Duke.""He'd like to see what I'm going to do against Duke," Arenas wrote in a posting this week on his nba.com blog. "I thought it was funny because if I have the chance to go back to college, I'll give up one NBA season to play against Duke."One college game that's five fouls, right? ... 40-minute game at Duke, they got soft rims I'd probably score 84 or 85. I wouldn't pass the ball. I wouldn't even think about passing it. It would be like a NBA Live or an NBA 2K7 game, you just shoot with one person."Arenas was one of the final cuts from Team USA before last year's world championships. The team announced he was released because of a strained groin, but Arenas said the injury was minor and a convenient excuse to cut a player who was getting little playing time.Arenas, who has made a career out of using snubs as motivation, made a late surge in the All-Star fan voting to pass Vince Carter and earn a spot in the starting lineup, announced Thursday.Arenas trailed Carter by more than 200,000 votes as of Jan. 11, but he nipped Carter by 3,010 -- the fourth-closest margin ever -- to gain the spot alongside Dwyane Wade for the East in next month's game at Las Vegas."Dreams do come true, no matter what people say," Arenas said. "Just work hard and things come to life. I am a living truth of it."</div>
Re: Arenas says he'd score '84 or 85' against Duke Gilbert is starting to get to really arrogant now. He sounds like Ron Artest. He is acting like he has been playing at this level for years. I'm still a fan of him, but he has been acting so cocky now that he has emerged in this league.
Re: Arenas says he'd score '84 or 85' against Duke The sad thing is, he probably would drop '84 or 85' against Duke.
Re: Arenas says he'd score '84 or 85' against Duke How would I put this so you guys can understand..."lol, jk"Chill out, he was only kidding.
Re: Arenas says he'd score '84 or 85' against Duke If you've known Arenas long enough, then you shouldn't really take it serious. He's gotten cocky lately, but the thing is, with how he's playing this season he's got the right to be cocky.
Re: Arenas says he'd score '84 or 85' against Duke You guys, Gilbert's game will speak for itself. I'm getting sick of defending him against people who don't understand what a f*cking joke is.

How do you know he's joking? Nothing in that quote said anything that would make it known it was a joke. To you, nothing Arenas does it bad. He's perfect...But of course, that was being bias is.

He's a lot different than Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash, and we're not talking about how they play. We're talking about his personality off the court. Do some research about this guy, so you don't look like a fool talking about something you have no knowledge about.

I know Arenas and I know his story. I've kept up with him since he was in Golden State and I his past, or some of it atleast. I've always given Arenas respect, being one of my favorite players. It's not what he does on the court I don't respect, it's what he says off the court sometimes. Sure, he may fool around with his teamates and stuff, and that's cool, I like seeing that, it shows the concept of a team, but, some of the things he says, joking or not, he should not say, in my opinion. So, don't go off calling me a fool for having an opinion.

Because besides the whole "Imma score 400 points all over Dantoni and McMillan" was out of frustration over the Team USA. He wanted to show that he shouldn't have been cut and there's no other way to show that by predicting how many he'll drop against them. Thus far, I haven't heard from the coaches replying to Arenas, except for D'antoni saying that "I had no part of cutting Arenas over the summer".
Re: Arenas says he'd score '84 or 85' against Duke Things like when he said that they mine as well not even play him in the All-Star game because he doesn't try, after being upset about not being voted in. And then this about scoring on Duke. Things like that..

Re: Arenas says he'd score '84 or 85' against Duke http://blog.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog...rat_doesnt.htmlAnd, saying things like that wasn't supposed to help my case. You just told me to tell you what quotes I was talking about, and I was just summing up what I said.
Re: Arenas says he'd score '84 or 85' against Duke I joined this site mainly because of this topic. He said he was gonna score 50 against the Suns, he did. He said he was gonna hit the gamewinner against the Bucks, he did. He said he would do the same against the Jazz, he did. He told Caron that it's his turn, and he scored the gamewinner against the Knicks. Gil said he would score 85 against Duke... he would... and?BTW, I know him better than you haters. Off the court, you cannot take him seriously, period. He supposedly said he banned James Lang (Wizards center) from his side of the locker room. He also got a hose and started it off in the bathroom while Awvee Storey (former Wizard) was taking a dump. If you don't think he's joking everytime he says something, then you're drunk. Check his blog on NBA.com.
