Eventually it's going to be like the movie Brazil. The violence will be so bad all around us and people will have so much familiarity with it...... that it will barely register. Guns will go off while we have lunch. "Oh. That's so nice darling!"

    "We win..."

    "OMG heads..."

He's talking about the Seahawk game.

Seahawks won the toss, kicked off.

I would say he wasn't a fan of Clinton.

"(if) We win I'm voting for Clinton."

This is an interesting case. How long have you had this "I Don't Get No Respect" syndrome? Since childhood?

What'd I tell you. You can't hide around here. He's 1 year out of high school, Oak Harbor H.S. He was busted outside his house in Oak Harbor, near Mt. Vernon and Burlington. He didn't walk; he simply drove his car away from the mall, which is 25 minutes south of me. I drove past it a week ago. Haven't been inside for about 15 years, but I noted it's still the color white, same as when they built it in 1990. Not much news around here. Still white. I lived about 2 miles from it back then.

His family legally immigrated from a big city in Turkey across the border from Syria. Mystery...cameras show he walked through the mall entrance without a rifle, but 10 minutes later walked within the mall into the former Bon Marche, now Macy's, entrance with it. He left his rifle on the cosmetics counter, where vain women congregate with a rare man towed in (I have stood there patiently).

As usual, British media was more detailed and current than American media, even local media like the Seattle Times. British media says that he has a minor mental health history, and that one woman who died was an Everett probation officer. Since she's police, she was armed, which extinguishes the NRA theory that if the women had been armed, they'd still be alive. It's obvious to everyone except the NRA that victims can't react fast enough. A shooter doesn't give you a second, much less a minute, to make the momentous decision to shoot him, pull out your gun, arm it, and aim so as to miss a Macy's crowd.

It all started on my first visit to Oregon, when I was told I was too dumb to pump my own gas.

Was that in 1961 in Wilsonville? Could have been Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere & the Raiders who told you that..

I have a carry license in WA, it was easy to get and I haven't had many issues regarding where I can take it. I don't carry very often, especially right now because i haven't been practicing at all since grape harvest began, but that's my choice.

I didn't know you're a grapepicker. Can you get me some big plump ones? I prefer seedless and bulletless.

I think I'll go to the mall right now and buy 3 pumpkin pies to chug down.

Of course you are correct, I agree with you. I exaggerated a little for humor and drama affect.

BUT, you live on the east side, in a very rural area. The average person’s attitude towards guns on the east side is closer to Idaho’s, and a long ways from the majority of people that live along the I-5 corridor, and where this shooting took place in Burlington.

I have seen people carry open near your town, with no problems (pistol in a holster that was clearly visible). A guy tried to carry open here in Vancouver. He stirred up a hornet’s nest that made the news.

My impression of your area is. You get a lot of transient/migrant workers near you. Some of them cause problems, some serious. People that live near where the migrants work often carry either concealed or open. Some of the highest crime rates in WA are on your side of the mountain, due to the migrant workers.

Violent crime out here is very cordoned off. There are 4 local gangs, but they have their territory and 1) almost never are violent out of their blocks, and 2) are only violent towards each other. I was talking to a sheriff about it several months back right after there was a shooting at a local bar (The Green Lantern) which is not on gang turf. The officer said it was extremely rare, and the shooting was still gang on gang.

There is a fair amount of theft, a friend of mine just had his house robbed when on vacation, stole a suburban, jewelry, several guns and tools. And that's not uncommon. But I don't think carry laws would affect that type of crime one way or another.

Personally, I carried more often when I lived in PDX than here in Walla Walla.
