Let's say the guy had a gun like they say he did (I don't believe it). That's not illegal though. Neither is it punishable by death. Unless...

Sounds like the deal was struck because the victim didn't want to testify and agreed to the arrangement as long as the cop did jail time. This article says he'll likely be stripped of his law enforcement credentials.

It is bullshit that they treat black people differently but these two scenarios aren't exactly the same. Different areas, different cops but most importantly different carry methods. The white dudes had theirs behind their backs where it would take a second to get it around to fire. The black dude had it right on his side and would have been a faster draw.

I think anyone who walks around carrying one of those things has a screw loose but legal is legal. I sure as shit wouldn't test the fucking cops like that in this day and age. Or have a pregnant woman record it right in the line of fire.

    1. What the black guy did was brave but also stupid. I wouldn't have done it but I commend his bravery/stupidity.

    2. This is in Oregon. The laws apply to the entire state. There should be NO difference in how the two situations should've been handled.

    3. The cop was SCARED as shit. Which illustrates the point I've been trying to make that 16 weeks in OR (or the average of 21 weeks nationally) IMHO is NOT enough training to be a cop. My ex wife has more training as a hair stylist. That's that's fucking shameful. I'm on the extreme end on this. Bachelor's degree program for cops. YES that extensive. It should NOT be so easy to become one. Make it harder, pay them more.

That's a start, but women expect you to also show your softer side. You need to maybe mention walks on the beach or how you like to cuddle.

    1. Me either, but you can do stupid shit in the smartest way possible as in not having a pregnant woman in line of fire.
    2. I couldn't even tell if they were in the same county. You try something like this in AZ in some county I never heard of or Maricopa county and I'd expect differences, I could be completely wrong on the outcome. If the law states that people can walk their pet Lions around on a leash then I expect cops to just keep on driving by but we all know they bend the rules every day.
    3. Fuck yeah he was scared. The first cop didn't seem scared at all but he also seemed like a reasonable guy, he also just struck me as a guy who never gets scared. He knew he was asking them for things that they legally don't have to do but he wasn't going to be a dick about it.

    As for a Bachelor's degree.......
Nope, making people get a degree to become a cop just makes it more likely that weirdos with power issues are going to be the only ones left. Who wants to go to school for years to work a dangerous job?
They need real personality testing and not some bullshit test they can pass by knowing what the testing is designed to produce.

That asshole Baltimore cop screaming at the skateboard dummies a few years ago shouldn't have passed the first day.

I fucking HHHHAAAAATTTTEEEE SKATERS and this is completely out of line.

Hey, I'm rewatching this idiot and just caught something. What does are you from the county mean? Where the black kids live?

I wholeheartedly disagree. More Education is always a good thing. They're already weirdos with power issues. If they go through more school and it takes more work to become one, they are less apt to do something stupid to lose their job. Sure it's dangerous. That's why we should pay them more.

That Baltimore cop was one year away from qualifying for his pension. No amount of schooling would have kept him from being an asshole eventually. That guy has been the same piece of shit since he hit puberty I GUARANTEE it.

Also, schooling wouldn't make anyone less afraid of anything. I knew kids in school who would pick up big spiders with their bare hands. A kid who grows up deathly afraid of them will always be afraid of them.

Two of the dumbest people I knew wanted to be cops. One of them was Kelso from That 70's Show dumb and the other was Cliff Clavin dumb.

My friend that knew them both sent me a link to the Cliff Clavin type's septic tank pump trunk business years later. That fucker may be rich to this day but only because he found something he could be good at.

Then he shouldn't be a cop. How he passed the psych evaluation I don't know. Just like it takes a special kind of person to be a Doctor, EMT, hell not everyone can/should be a Referee. It takes a special kind of person to be a Police Officer. It's FAR too easy.

School would've weeded both Kelso and Cliff out.

I heard some clips of some congressman trying to say something that sounded right but the way he said it sounded soooo belittling. It was on sports radio on my drive home yesterday, I didn't catch the guy's name. He said something about black people rioting because they are "jealous"

Then he goes on to try to explain it is because white people fucked them over for hundreds of years but it just comes off as insincere.

If you were suited to be a doctor mentally and could stand to go to school forever you'd almost be crazy not to. Very few people would want to be a ref I would imagine.

Now, we need cops but who wants to live like that? Any of us could die in a car crash on the way to work so our wives could worry about that, but being a cop is another story. There are crazy motherfuckers everywhere.

I still say we need a police draft. The first requirement for being drafted should be a kid who's teachers commented that he or she was fair as a child. Yep, all report cards in the US should have boxes that teachers have to check and they should be uploaded anonymously for a draft.

    Bully? NOPE
    Screamer? NOPE
    Withdrawn? NOPE
    Whiny? NOPE

We could at least reject people who showed these traits growing up.

Kelso could have been a cop but man don't expect him to break protocol in an obvious situation where an exception to a rule would be needed. He was smart enough to learn his rules and he was a really nice guy who I know for a fact didn't cheat on his ugly wife with a HOT bi-sexual girl we worked with.

Cliff, I told that fucker if he became a cop and ever pulled me over and tried to give me a ticket that I would break his arm at the wrist and try to jab the bone in his eye. He was my trainer at work and I'd ask him questions about stuff and he'd answer like he knew everything but I had this feeling he was bullshitting me at every turn. I don't mind if someone doesn't know something but I do mind if they pretend that they do when they really don't. I knew for sure he was an idiot when we were looking at my 70 Cutlass in the parking lot one day and he was telling me idiotic things about my car.

Probably, but sometimes a prosecutor has to settle for what he or she can actually get rather than blowing the case entirely by trying for the maximum.
